We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a big supporter of other’s spiritual products. The way the energies felt when I touched the products was amazing. And ultimately, that’s what inspired me to start making my own sprays and oils. I knew that I could create these items and provide the same intentional energy in them. I knew that I wanted to associate my brand with a moon cycle, and the New Moon is perfect for setting new intentions and planting the seeds to create new adventures; New Moon Botanics was created.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work full time as a Sales & Catering Coordinator all while running my business online. I’m sure most others were impacted by the pandemic last year as much if not more than I was. I felt lost and unmotivated to do anything; two weeks of unemployment turned into four months and it was just weighing down on me.

I finally decided enough was enough, and if I wasn’t going back to work soon, then I needed to keep active and motivated. I started brainstorming some ideas of products and services that I could provide, such as the oils, sprays, charm bags, and spell jars.

It wasn’t easy, I’ll be honest; from finding locations that ethically source items to getting the “right” containers. At first, it’s very time-consuming, but after a couple of months of orders, you start getting the hang of it.

The most difficult part that I’ve learned throughout the process is to be patient. Sometimes the items I need to create products are out of stock or on back order and I just have to remind myself that it happens, especially during a pandemic.

As of recently, I’ve redesigned my shop to be a supplier of spiritual tools so that you can get int touch with your own magickal side. With the exception of charm bags and spell jars, New Moon Botanics products and services are still available and more items to come soon! All of my products, regardless of whether I’ve made them or supplying them, are packed and shipped with the most sincere and genuine energy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Luckily, my best friend lives in the area! But we still have a lot of fun together.

We’re big food people so we like to eat, whether it’s sushi (our fave!), Korean bbq, or simply some McChickens and sweet tea from McDonald’s.

Since not much is open still, we just have some glasses of wine or seltzer’s with chamoy dipped cups and hangout by the pool (when it’s warm).

The greatest thing about my best friend and I is that we have similar likes. So we can get lost a metaphysical shops like The Zen Den San Pedro, or crystal shops like Eileen’s Jewelry And Gemstones; both have been great suppliers AND supporters of my brand and I truly appreciate them!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my spiritual mentors and friends, Seth (@mediumsethbrowder), Karo (@fireandlux), and Teejay (@thehalfasswitch)! They have helped me and taught me so much in the past year and a half that has inspired me in creating my own products.
