We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Nierman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Passion….the love of working creatively.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a ceramic artists currently working in Palm Springs CA. I have been working in clay for over forty years. I founded a ceramic studio for children 34 years ago in Berkeley CA where we taught 200 children each week. . (Kids N Clay Pottery Studio) which supported my clay habit. My current clay work is coil built vessels. After building and firing the pots I break them into pieces. I then paint the shards, fire them and reassemble them into a vessel. An exciting way to work because I have little idea of how they will look when glued back together!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mother was a painter and always encouraged me to explore my creativity. She gave me art supplies and she let me go! I would ask if I needed guidance otherwise I was fee to create!
