We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Demcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krista, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
All great businesses solve a problem for their clients, so when I sought out to do my own thing that thought became my sole driver. My first decade in entrepreneurship taught me that sales skills were the differentiating factor between those who “made it” and those who didn’t, yet there wasn’t much on the market that focused on teaching these. I knew this was the gap in the market that I could easily fill, so I got to work. I spent close to 18 months drawing upon my experience in counseling coupled with the coaching skills I learned from leading a multi-million dollar sales team and created something that I thought could bridge this gap. Enter the ACORN Method. Drawing on the premise that from tiny acorns might oaks grow, this 5 step system helps entrepreneurs master their mindset and messaging so they can serve other better and sell more. Since its inception in early 2020, the ACORN Method has served over 625 clients and counting and beyond the revenue gains it’s brought, our proudest moments come from the intangibles that our students receive: a renewed sense of purpose + confidence in business, and also in life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With age comes wisdom, and because I have been playing this entrepreneurship game for over 12 years I feel like I’ve finally cracked the code on how to stand out in a crowd – and it’s very simple: BE YOURSELF. My business has felt aligned to my life right from the start, and that’s because from the very beginning I pledged to not compare myself to anyone else and instead to lean into what made me unique.

My special sauce as a strategist + coach is my unique approach with my clients. It’s a little woo woo combined with good old fashioned work, and I’ve leaned into my natural tendency to cheerlead as they forge ahead, but am not afraid to be the firm hand on their back pushing them to move forward as well.

If there’s one thing that’s certain about entrepreneurship, it’s that it’s not going to be a smooth road! I’ve learned to embrace the peaks and valleys and know that it’s all a part of the process. As someone who wants to be good at things right away, the hardest part of this whole journey has been accepting that when you begin – you’re just not going to be that good. Your first video will stink, your first podcast will tank, you won’t get many people buying your first products. When that happens, it’s tempting to quit – to throw in the towel with a “well that didn’t work out” mentality.

But what I’ve learned over the past 12 years is that you have to keep creating. Keep doing the thing that sets your soul on fire, and be relentless in the pursuit of your dreams, even when things aren’t shaping up the way you want them to. I’ve had $0 sales months. Programs in which no one signed up. Failed sales calls, opportunities that I’ve missed. And the only reason I’m where I am right now is because I didn’t let any of those things stop me – nor should you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been so blessed to come from a family that has supported every crazy dream I’ve ever had and fanned the flame of entrepreneurship that’s burned brightly within me since I was a little girl. My mom + dad always made me feel like anything was possible, and then passed that torch to my supportive husband Brian of over 21 years who has done the same. Our three children, Ava, Emme and Bennett, are the reason I get up and work hard every day – not just to create a long lasting legacy for them, but also to show them that with passion, determination and a whole lot of grit, anything is possible.
