We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Caroline and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is a really relevant question for actors as there are many times along the way when you may feel that your best just isn’t good enough…when you are one of the top 2 choices for a role, and you don’t get cast or when you go through callbacks, producer sessions, chemistry reads and you just aren’t quite right. But the love of acting and working with a cast and crew is what keeps me going! I feel so lucky to have come this far and know that a big role is right around the corner.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am always a work in progress, but continue to focus on my acting, singing, hosting and reporting. I have been very fortunate to have some incredible opportunities very early on in my career, but have also lost out on many. I have learned that you have to be resilient in life…especially in entertainment. Not everyone is going to like you, but as long as you love yourself and surround yourself with authentic people, you will stay grounded and feel loved. This summer, I have several short film projects and am really excited to get back to work. I’m continuing with voice lessons and hope to get out to LA to meet my amazing team in person.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love where I live. Lake Norman, NC is beautiful and the city of Charlotte continues to grow. If a friend was visiting, we would definitely spend a day on the lake and then head to Birkdale Village for dinner and shopping. We could also go Uptown to the 7th Street Market to grab a picnic lunch that we would eat at First Ward Park. And then, we would definitely spend some time in the neighborhood of Noda. I love the whole vibe of Noda!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am without the love, support and encouragement of my parents. They believe in me when I don’t believe in myself and continue to show me what true love is – even when I push the boundaries on rules and respect. When I started acting, my mom jumped right in and learned everything she could about the industry. She read every article, made connections, talked to so many people and wasn’t afraid to ask hard questions. She always keeps my best interest in mind and we lovingly call her a pink pitbull. She is the toughest person around, especially if you do anything to harm her family. I am so appreciative of her hard work and will continue to celebrate everything she has done for me.
