We had the good fortune of connecting with Laetitia Mahicka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laetitia, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite affirmation is ‘You only live once’. I came across this motto from a very young age, and it shaped my life decisions ever since. I believe in living a life without regret. That sentence drives me to take risks and inspired me to change career, travel, and move to different countries, so that at the end of the day, I have no ‘what if’s’ but only memories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m very proud of the fact that I had the courage to change career and move away from corporate to focus on my artistic path. I had a top marketing job but I always knew deep down that I wanted to explore another aspect of my personality and explore my full artistic potential. Today I’m a working model, actor, and singer, which has always been my dream. There is no doubt that it is a difficult path, however I’m in this career for the long run so I see it as a long term investment for my soul. I’m a performer, I like to express myself on stage and in front of the camera, and most days I get to work on my craft, whether through training, auditions, or on set, which truly fulfills me. There is still a long way to go to get to where I want to be, but I set myself goals along the way and each of them are stepping stones that I celebrate. I’ve learned to believe in myself and today I’m more confident in my ability to tackle almost anything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ll take my friend on a drive onto PCH towards Malibu. We would stop at Malibu Seafood or Broad Street Oyster for lunch and spend the afternoon at El Matador beach. In the evening we would go for drinks at EP & LP, followed by dinner at Catch. Around 10.30pm we would head to Black Rabbit Rose (Hollywood) to listen to some awesome live music. I’d also take my friend to Laguna Beach for a day trip. I’d definitely go to the Drunken Crab (North Hollywood) for Louisiana style shrimps and crab legs, Magnolia Bakery for their banana pudding, Uovo Pasta for handmade pasta shipped overnight from Italy, De Buena Planta for spicy margaritas & plant-based tacos, and Wabi for sushi!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to dedicate this shoutout to my partner Mikey. I came to LA almost 4 years ago and as wonderful as LA is, it can also be a lonely place, particularly for a newcomer. I was lucky to meet Mikey one year after I landed in LA, and the love, support, and encouragement he consistently gives me, is a force that carries me through on the good days and bad days. It’s funny because he always says that I should give him more credit and he is right, so I hope this little shoutout brings a smile on his face and warms up his (big) heart.
