Meet Lourdes Estrada | CEO & Founder of New Hope Family Counseling Center

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lourdes Estrada and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lourdes, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed dramatically over the last three years. I have become more intentional with setting time for a vaction, break and exercise. Before when I was just starting my business I dedicated 100% or more and I forgot to have fun and enjoy the process. Now, I make it a point to give myself breaks and I do not feel guilty about taking those breaks. I plan vacation (or staycation) with my family.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As the CEO and Founder of New Hope Family Counseling Center we strive to provide quality mental health services and quality entrepreneur coaching. Where our clients feel comfortable, taken care off and feel like they are no longer walking through adversary on their own. We provide faith based services , in home services, immigration evaluations which sets us apart from other practices. Our style is a Boutique/Concierge practice. Getting to where I am today was not easy. At first there were many sacrifices that needed to be made. Our word of mouth referral basis is what has honestly lead us to where we are and continues to help us grow. There were many tears, and many times I wanted to give up and throw in the towel. I was able to push through it by remembering “my why” and reflecting back on my vison. As an immigrant from Guatemala, and working hard and putting myself through college I knew that I wanted to give a better future for my kids. I knew that as an immigrant, latina it was not going to be an easy road. I learned that many latinos like myself struggled with many adversaries and there was no where to turn for support or guidance within people that looked like me or had similar values or morals. The lessons I have learned along the way is: 1) WHen one door closes a window opens, and you take that opportunity and make the best of it. 2) Fear only makes me weak and holds me back. So, I will not let fear become an obstacle I choose to step up and take on that challenge. I want the world to know that here at NHFCC you will gain insight, accountability and a new perspective of life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
WOW!! Ok you got me here. I am a super local girl. I love to support small business like mine. So, For sure we would visit the beach, if possible do a wine trip to Temecula. They have the best little mom & Pop shops and the food is amazing. So local here in Downey, we would for sure go and grab some breakfast at Poached Neighborhood Kitchen and dessert at Tropicana, we can never go wrong with some dessert there or a cafecito. Dinner we must go to Gaucho Grill.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success and continued growth is all thanks to GOD. In addition, my husband, my three boys and my parents. My husband for going along with my crazy ideas and providing me with his encouragement. My boys for tolerating my long work hours and being away from home. My parents for the endless babysitting hours.
