We had the good fortune of connecting with Maclovia Martel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maclovia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I feel that times have changed. Today is so much different from 2 years ago. I believe it’s Of utmost importance for creatives who can provide a story, tell an inspiring and uplifting one, to engage and help the world create a new image. We all come from the same house. We need to work together so tomorrow can be a better day. If we can change it through an inspiring story that helps others -that’s a good day. I think documentary filmmaking is the best Avenue for this.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud of the people I’ve met on this journey. The people who have allowed me to be creative and trusted in me. I’m still learning every day new challenges- whether it’s asking questions in an interview, trying to get the best out of someone Or the many technical challenges I’ve overcome through listening, watching tutorials and learning how to be patient.
I want the world to know -do what inspires you and makes you happy. Never think about doing it because it’s trendy or vogue.. Do it because you love it and your passionate about it. When you get goose bumps, chicken skin- that’s a good gage.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Producer, Michael Potter, has been extraordinarily supportive and has believed in my filmmaking for some years now.. He and his wife, Margaret are philanthropists and inspirational advocates. I would never have this opportunity to make films without them. I want to thank them for listening to my voice and my story telling in making documentaries and believing in me.. I also want to thank the people whose stories I’ve told and Have helped me tell.
I can Drop the Mic now!!!
