We had the good fortune of connecting with Malinda Rochelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malinda, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and my brand’s success is my unwavering call to action: FREE BLACK WOMEN’S WOMBS. I have found that authenticity, transparency, and true concern for the state of Black women and our bodies has attracted my clients and audience. So many women have countless reproductive and uterine health concerns that go unsolved, or worsened, by the Western medical institution. By naming these ailments, creating community amongst women surviving through these ailments, and then providing solutions and support through research and education I have birthed a platform and brand of trust, community, and impactful change in Black and Brown women’s health.
What should our readers know about your business?
Bethany Rose Healing encourages Black women’s holistic wellness through vaginal steaming. Vaginal steaming is an ancient practice of using water and herbs to heal physical, spiritual, and energetic ailments women may experience. These ailments show up as painful periods, unexplained infertility, fibroids, cyst, endometriosis, and a host of other ailments.
What sets Bethany Rose Healing apart is the education that we provide to our clients. So many times, women are unaware but our reproductive cycle, and more specifically, our period, are speaking to us telling us how our body is responding to the lifestyle we’re living (stress and eating habits). We are trained to analyze women’s cycles to understand the underlying conditions and make holistic lifestyle suggestions for holistic solutions.
So many women have shared testimonies of having fuller lives because of the education and support we give.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite way to start my day is with a full-body workout with one of the best personal trainers in the country, Carl Lewis, CEO of Powermoves. Carl trains out of a Black-owned, private gym in Signal Hill, Iron Addicts.
Afterward, I’d take them to get custom candles, bath soaks, and waist beads at a Long Beach, Black women-owned Botanica, Divine & Twined.
I would then take them to lunch at my favorite restaurant, Comfort LA, in Inglewood, CA.
I’d then welcome them back to beautiful Long Beach to catch a sunset at the beach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my badass, rock star mother, Kandee Lewis, who is the Executive Director of Positive Results Center, a nonprofit that supports survivors of Domestic Violence while training others on trauma-informed care. She has believed in me, wiped my tears when I’ve experienced setbacks, and bee a role model at entrepreneurship. I have gotten a front-row seat of the ups, downs, setbacks, hard work, and dedication it takes to chase your dreams and lead your own business.
