We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Krangel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has always been part of my life, I was paralyzed at the age 21, many doctors would say l would not walk again , or Be myself; so l Took the risk to believe in a powerful mighty God, after graduating as a fashion designer on a wheelchair, 3 months after l was learning to walk and never used walkers. Today, l have a handsome boy That is 6, and if l had believed that report wouldn’t been living the life we live today.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The fashion industry can be tough, you need to develop a tough skin to follow your dreams, the dream wont be enough, you need a plan; a plan to accomplish goals; in 6 years, being a single mom, and knowing no one in the industry in LA, l was able to show costumes at Metropolitan Fashion week, Total Access, KTLA 5, develop costumes for a film and was nominated for Best Costume Designer at LaJolla FFF. l manage my studio and also work for an organization consulting entrepreneurs to accomplish their dreams to become a business owner.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them To San Diego, Santa Barbara and a small town called Ojai; you will

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son Salomon, he is a photography model, is an amazing human being, always thinking outside of the box, creative and super smart; when he was 2 months old, l took the risk of my Life, left everything behind, moved from Colombia to LA to build a new life for us and here we are, he is the reason why l keep on moving forward.
