We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Gallagher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I became a life coach, my thought process had its share of doubt, but eventually the hope, courage and passionate desire to transform people’s lives won out! The main idea that empowered my launch was to develop a bias for action. I learned that following your calling does not depend on first feeling super confident. It depends on taking action in alignment with your vision and finding out what works, tweaking what doesn’t, and continually learning and growing. What worked for me was offering great value and wholehearted service to the amazing women and teens I felt called to help.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My coaching journey started with my shift out of teaching. For 9 years I was a dedicated elementary school teacher and I thought that would always be the case. Around 2019 I found myself frustrated with the limits on my time, income and impact. I craved a big inner and outer change in my life.

As I dove into my personal growth and healing, a flame was lit. Working with the teachings of Louise Hay, I took loving ownership of my thoughts and feelings. I healed the trauma I went through as a Division I college athlete and started crafting an empowered vision for my life.

Inspired by the work of several transformational coaches, I felt called to become a coach and an entrepreneur. During spring break 2020, I started my first business, Amazing Day Academy, offering online writing courses to kids.

We just concluded a second successful summer of Amazing Day Academy classes. I am now launching all new fall offerings with a focus on life coaching for kids and teens, helping them develop emotional wellness and mindset skills.

As the 2021 academic year finished out and I said goodbye to teaching forever, my professional coaching with women took off. I’ve had the honor of helping several incredible women upgrade their mindset, improve their business and find deeper happiness in life.

For me the great revelation was to discover just how much empathy, creativity and joy I could bring to this coaching work. Once I got out of the fear of never being hired and started focusing on the value and service I wanted to offer, magical connections began happening and all kinds of helpful, positive feedback started flowing. Enrolling new clients is not about being pushy or thinking you’re the best coach in the world. It’s about connecting and serving from my highest self, and I feel that’s where I’m working from right now.

There’s a quote by Carl Jung that says, “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” That’s the gift I’m receiving lately and that’s what I want to offer women. Improving any aspect of your life starts with aligning with your most authentic self and offering the gifts you have to give. When you do that, amazing things start to happen!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have received a tremendous amount of support, mentorship and encouragement from my own coaches, Melanie Jean Burke, Melissa Ford, Carolyn Freyer-Jones and Amber Kryzs, my parents, and true love and life partner, Michael Damian, who saw my greatness years before I was ready to and who patiently waited for me to catch up and get on board with the fullness of my potential.
