We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factors behind my success are family, faith, and humility. Each factor has a key part in my success but most important is family. At a young age, my parents were individuals of unlimited talents. As a little girl, I would see my parents actively planning or organizing an event and while helping them I learned all the ways to successfully organize all events. Through my parents, it is because of them I have learned all my knowledge and experience to be key factors for my success now. Within family, my husband is an important part with his support and strength to help make all our events EPIC. Faith is the another important factor to my success. At a young age I learned that to be successful it is important to have faith. Growing up I was always reminded to pray and believe that God will send his blessings and that anything is possible with faith. The last key factor is to be humble. Being humble to me is to be my true self – outgoing, caring, passionate, and really being me to my clients to give them a person that not only cares but will be their to support them in every decision. To be me and to really give everyone my all is essential.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is named EPIC Events & Design – based in Ontario Ranch, CA and serve Los Angeles, Orange County, and Inland Empire Regions. We provide Wedding/Event Coordination & Design for the most luxurious wedding to the DIY bride. I have been a coordinator & designer for over 9 years and excited that 2 years ago we officially opened our doors to EPIC Events & Design. Before opening the doors to our company, wedding coordinating was side hobby and passion but had doubts of how successful it would be as a business. Overcoming the fear, I decided to take a leap of faith and quit my 8-5 job to dedicate my time and efforts to opening a business. Was it easy to overcome not at all. When we opened we were struck with the challenge of COVID-19 and having to adapt all our events to make it safe, but I wasn’t going to let it stop me. The motto of ‘Go Big or Go Home” and “The World is limitless” became my mantra for everything. My goal was to push myself to the limit to create content that could be published and display all the skills we have perfected and also help other vendors that were struggling because of the pandemic. I’ve learned so many lessons within our journey and one being that things happen for a reason and just have to find a way to adapt and make it better. What I want the world to know is that t0 never limit yourself thinking that you cannot. If you put in the work, time, and effort it will always be worth it in the end and lead you to so many opportunities. Like what Henry Ford said “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right!”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles I would start out with food and drinks. Los Angeles is the capitol for all things foodie and drinks – the first spot we would visit is The Grove where you can get a taste of the LA Culture. Next place I would take her is to see the wineries in Temecula, where you could walk the vineyard while enjoying a glass of wine. To be the ultimate tourist its a must to visit Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney – so we would go and spend the day enjoying all the food at the Blue Bayou and Cocktails at Pacific Wharf. Then to end off our adventure a road trip to San Diego to see all the amazing beaches.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to two individuals Mitchell DeGuzman and Anna Ancheta for being key mentors in our success. Mitchell is a Wedding MC based in Los Angeles and has been a key role in of where we are today. With his constant mentorship of pushing to always be your best self to always perfecting your craft – Mitchell has been an inspiration that I always look up to and am thankful for his recommendation to be part of Shoutout LA. Thank you Mitchell for first and foremost being an amazing friend but also an amazing mentor and will forever be thankful for all the advice and guidance you have given us. Anna has played a vital role in helping create our logo and label as a Graphic Designer. She has been the biggest supporter and marketer for our company to make it as successful as it is! Thank you Anna for always pushing me to be the best version of myself and believing we can make this company work!
