Meet Melonie Latham | Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melonie Latham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melonie, is there something you believe many others might not?
“Just find what sells—and do more of that.”
I mean, it sounds smart, and I get it. And it’s tempting too. When a new product takes
off, the obvious thing would be to ride that wave. Scale it, milk it, repackage it even and
push it hard. But here’s my truth: I’ve been down the road of chasing what’s popular,
and it left me exhausted and uninspired. Honestly it left me disconnected from why I
even started in the first place. That’s when I decided: I’d rather grow slower being
authentic than burn out trying to be what someone else already is. It’s a creative
thing, I guess.
I’ll paint a picture of when what “sells” becomes a trap, (since I’m so creative, lol). You
create something with love and joy and it resonates because you know it’ll move
people, and they’ll want more. But suddenly, that one product becomes the only thing
anyone’s asking for. So, you keep making it. Over and over. And slowly… you stop
experimenting. You stop evolving. You stop creating with soul. Now you’re not an artist,
you’re a factory.
I didn’t start my business to be a machine. I started it because I wanted to create
experiences. Whether it’s a purse, a candle, a painting, or a bracelet, everything I create
is meant to carry more than just style. It’s emotional, it tells a story, and it invites you to
become a part of what I’m doing. Each piece I create is layered with intention and
designed to speak to your spirit, spark a memory, or simply remind you to choose
beauty on purpose.
Not everything will go viral and not everything will be a bestseller. And that’s okay. But
I’ve made the commitment to show up consistently as my full self, real, growing,
learning, and in love with the process. Because that’s the version of me that my
customers deserve. It’s the version of me I deserve.
Slow growth is still growth to me. We’re so conditioned to think that if it’s not fast, it’s not
working. But slow growth is rooted growth in my book. To me, that’s sustainable
because it gives you room to pivot. I don’t want my brand to feel like a hustle. I’d rather
it feels like a heartbeat, steady and alive.
Creativity isn’t a commodity, and art doesn’t owe anyone virality. We are all allowed to
grow at our own rhythm. Yes, take note of what’s working, but don’t let one popular
product define the whole of your vision. I gave myself permission to keep creating from
a place of curiosity and not just from a place of performance. Fast trends fade, but
authenticity builds something that lasts. My goal is to be here for the long game.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is deeply personal. Everything I create reflects emotion, memory, and healing. I work across mediums: layered abstract paintings, hand-poured candles, artisan handbags, and one-of-a-kind jewelry. What ties it all together is a commitment to creating pieces that feel like a pause, a moment to reconnect with yourself.
What sets my work apart is the intention behind it. I don’t make things just to be pretty or trendy. Every piece is layered with meaning, whether it’s through color, texture, or the quiet energy it carries. I want people to feel something when they engage with my work. I want them to remember, not just look.
I’m most proud of the fact that I kept going, even when it was hard. Nothing about this path has been easy. There were times when I had no space to create, when I didn’t believe in myself, when life knocked me down. But art finds its way back to me and I always choose to honor it. I overcame the hard times by creating anyway. Sometimes quietly. Sometimes in pieces. But always with honesty.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that your story matters, even if it doesn’t look like anyone else’s. And that it’s okay to grow slowly. To evolve. To take breaks and come back new.
What I want the world to know is that MoonRoc Studios isn’t just a brand, it’s a reflection of the way I’ve rebuilt myself over and over again. It’s art for people who’ve felt joy and pain, who want more than surface-level beauty, who are drawn to things that speak softly but powerfully.
This is my way of leaving something meaningful in the world. Something that lasts. Something that feels like home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Vanessa Hammonds, the coolest, most artistic person in my universe!
