We had the good fortune of connecting with Mysty Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mysty, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Some things in life come naturally and others we work hard to be great at. Being an artist and pursuing a creative career was something that I was destined for. I’ve always been someone to think outside the box and knew that I wouldn’t be happy in just a 9 to 5 setting. Being a creator fulfills me in ways that completes me. I feel that each day has new purpose because there’s so much to create. Being an artist is second nature for me and I can’t see life any other way without it.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own a women’s health and fitness brand named Get Out Your Zone. I offer fitness equipment & workout guides. I also create workout videos across all of my social channels to further help motivate women to live healthier & fit lives. I think one of the main things that sets me apart from other fitness brands is that it’s not all about profit for me. I provide a lot of free services, free workouts and giveaways. My goal is to motivate and inspire other women, especially moms, to stay active and work for the bodies they desire. A lot of my fitness challenges that I promote are at no cost and I’m always open to give free advice. In order to get to where I am today I had to take a lot of different routes. I tried everything, from selling a lot of different products that didn’t work to trying to find my voice across my social channels. How would I reach the masses was my biggest question. When I stopped focusing on reaching the top and just working to inspire those around me, that’s when people came to listen and help to grow my brand. It was not easy in the slightest, and a lot of times I wanted to give up based on my results. I kept going and put my head down and stayed working and results followed eventually. My biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that if something isn’t working for your business, learn how to navigate around it or without it. I’ve had to drop a lot of projects because they didn’t make financial sense. Listen to your audience, they know best! I’d love the world to know that my brand is for women by women. I’m always elevating my challenges and plans and working to be my best self so that others can do the same.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week long trip with my besties, I’d take them to the following places. Hiking at Runyon Canyon and Escondido Falls The Nike Factory Outlet Store in Santa Clarita The Grove and Melrose to hang and shop Little Tokyo to grab some Chicken at Howlin Ray’s Brunch at Castaway in Burbank Beach at Malibu and Venice Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my husband. He’s helped steer me in the right direction and pushed me time over time when I felt like giving up. He sacrificed everything to give me the life that I desire and works hard daily so that my dreams are fulfilled. Without him I don’t know where I’d be today.
