We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Angelini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a business where I could really be of value to people. It all started with my own healing journey and my determination to find a way to move past my traumas and wounding and create the life I always wanted. Which I did.
I went on to get my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and used that with a combination of spirituality, mindfulness and my experience as a recovered addict, to help people in the best way I could. I truly believe we all have the power to heal ourselves, given the right tools.
In my 20’s I struggled to find a counselor or therapist that worked in a way that facilitated real change. I am more solution focused and though I believe we must address past trauma, I made my own personal strides by focusing on who I want to be now, instead of who I was. I found a way that worked for me and that is what I teach. It is my intention to guide people back to themselves and their own true power. I love helping people feel better and become who they truly want to be. So really, it was through my own un-met need that my business was born. I became the Counselor that I would have wanted.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I started getting clients by accident before I got my degree. I found that people easily opened up to me and I innately could connect with what they needed. So I had a small client base and worked for next to nothing in the beginning so I could learn to trust myself. Then I started my practice and went back to school. I feel like to be successful you need to follow the path of your own personal gifts and talents.
As far as action steps toward growing my business, I would be a guest on self-help podcasts, and started my own call-in podcast (Blogtalkradio.com/intuitionbynadia) and my business grew from there. I will say that word of mouth and personal referrals has been the way I have gotten most of my clients.
I am really clear that I only want to work with people that I can really help, I accepted early on that I am not for everyone, but I am right for the people that are ready to make real changes in their lives. You can’t have ego in the game. It is all about being true to yourself and your vision of what you feel is right.
I am most proud of being able to help people live and manifest their dreams. I love seeing people thrive and succeed and having a small part in that.
What sets me apart as a Life Coach is not only the “Intuitive” Part, but that I teach people to connect with their own intuition so they don’t need me. I also do a full 1 hour (60 min) Sessions as opposed to the traditional 50 minute session. I record the sessions, so you can listen back and hear yourself. I believe that there is a benefit to the weekly session model, but a lot of my clients will do every other week, once a month, or even once every 6 months because they take to the tools so quickly that they get immediate results. I like to get to solutions and how to move forward, as opposed to repeating old stories.
This career was made for me. It is so joyful and fulfilling and I think that is why I have been successful. I expanded to doing on-line workshops, recordings and continue to do privates (30 minutes or 60 minutes) daily. I love what I do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a mom of two small kids, so a night out in WeHo, or even a simple dinner and a movie at The Grove would be amazing. For dinner I love Mercado, amazing food and you can walk to The Grove to shop and see a movie after.
I also love vegan food so my favorites are Cafe Gratitude, Real Food Daily, for any meal and Urth Cafe for lunch or a coffee and cookie.
West Hollywood is my favorite place but I also enjoy a beach walk in Santa Monica and a fancy dinner at The Lobster Restaurant.
Lastly, see a Broadway show at the Pantages in Hollywood or seeing live music at the Hollywood Bowl is a must!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Books and teachers that I think are brilliant and can help with anyone’s journey:
1. Brene Brown
2. All Abraham-Hicks Books and recordings but start with Ask and It is Given.
3. There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem by Wayne Dyer
4. If you have addictive tendencies, a 12-step program and working the steps.
5. The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
6. Byron Katie “the work”
7. Conversations with God Book 1-Neale Donald Walsh
