We had the good fortune of connecting with Navdeep Reddy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Navdeep, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
In its first incarnation, Enplug was conceived as a solution to monetizing consumers’ idle time in public venues. The idea was that throughout the day individuals would be subjected to intermittent periods of down time as they went about their business. Our goal was to be able to leverage the valuable “eyeballs” of these users into revenue. A discussion on this topic progressed over many cups of boba. This came to fruition with our MVP launch, which was comprised of digital displays located above urinals & in toilet stalls serving targeted advertisements. A confluence of technologies had reduced the cost of certain consumer electronics so that we could use ARM based tablets running Android to drastically reduce costs, and restrooms were one of the rare locations where competition for attention with people’s smartphones might be somewhat reduced. Once the core idea was nailed down, we ran with it – and the rest is history. Our product today is dramatically different than this original idea, which goes to show that there are many steps between a seemingly good idea and an actually successful company!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Enplug is the solution for businesses to easily manage and deliver their visual communications, whether that be internal communications to employees or external marketing to customers. Our turnkey software allows instant generation of automated content streams that sync content from wherever the customs needs and packages them for aesthetically pleasing viewing on any display (ranging from an employee’s laptop to a stadium jumbotron). Traditionally, enterprise level software solutions are a web of complex UI and required training seminars. Enplug DisplayOS is unique in providing an intuitive platform that non-technical stake holders can use without extensive onboarding, leading to higher adoption and more value for the organization. It has been a long journey from garage start-up to global market leader. There were innumerable adversities overcome and lessons learned. Some bite sized takeaways are; – Talk to your customers early and often. – Don’t be afraid to start selling and monetizing as soon as possible. If you wait for perfect, you may never get off the starting line. – If the data says pivot, pivot. – There’s opportunity for innovation everywhere, often hiding in the mundane, – “You can’t lose what you don’t put in the middle. But you can’t win much either.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1, 양념치킨 @ OB Bear. My favorite spot for KFC was the now sadly closed dive bar “Good Time” adjacent to the suburb of Diamond Bar. However perhaps just as tasty when the nostalgia goggles are off is the yangnyeom chicken at OB Bear, nestled in the trendy K-Town. A good place for a meal before hitting the town, or stay a while as the twisted ends of soju bottle caps accumulate at your feet. 2. Round 1. While the legendary Arcade Infinity is now but a cherished memory a sliver of its legacy lives on at Round 1. Round 1 is a Japanese chain of entertainment venues with a few in California. The City of Industry location on the eastern edge of LA County is one such spot. Here you can find the traditional fair like bowling, billiards, & beer, but also a unique selection of Japanese arcade machines as well as private karaoke rooms and table tennis. 3. Frank & Sons Collectible Show. Events like Comic Con only happen once per year… but you can go to Frank & Sons every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. A geek’s paradise, here you can find vendors and events for fandoms ranging from Yu-Gi-Oh to retro gaming. 4. Reboot Esports Lounge. Formerly “The Grid.” this PC bang is technically in San Bernardino county. While the golden age of LAN centers in the USA is over, this spot is a modern, spacious, and well equipped reminder of those marathon gaming sessions with friends. 5. Just drive down Colima Rd and choose something to eat. It will probably be delicious. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mTkM4Iwo3I & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n3HQ9uge0g

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The entire team at Enplug is simply phenomenal. We wouldn’t be helping businesses take ownership of their visual communications all around the globe without the brilliance and diligence of the fine specimens who comprise this company. It’s an honor and a pleasure serving in the trenches of business with these mavens of customer success, engineering, marketing, and sales. Comrades, one & all!
