We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Manley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patricia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have seen risks as an opportunities throughout my life. From the very moment I decided to quit my job, sell all my things and moving to another country completely on my own with not network, friends and not knowledge of the language, to start my own business in a field that not a lot of people understand and lately taking again the decision of moving to another country. Risk has allowed me to grow as a person and to have the most amazing experiences that I could ever imagine. And I truly believe life is a place full of opportunities sometimes hidden behind risks and it’s our mission to take them and go for them to have an extraordinary life
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the host of a podcast called I am Mantuana which was created to give women a space where they can listen stories and lessons learnt that can inspire them to grow and become the person they want to be. The episodes come from experiences that I have been learning in real life everything about diversity, resilience, motherhood, mind set and wellness. Always true to my roots sharing with my audience and how to take risks and grasp any opportunity to become that amazing woman we all have inside. This is a brand new project that came as a consequence of years of experiences on my online wellness business working with an amazing company called Arbonne that provide the most extraordinary products in skincare, makeup and nutrition. They are 100% vegan, GMO free and with no nasty ingredients in their formulation. But what really set my business apart from any other brand is the ethics behind the formulation and the commitment with sustainability with a Corp B certification. The journey hasn’t been easy managing a full time job, motherhood and a business, I have been going through lots of rejection, people leaving my business and the mummy guilt that is always present but all this journey has allowed me to find my purpose helping immigrant women (first or second generation) to find that shine within themselves. We all have this inside but the old habits, believes and misconceptions prevent us to live an extraordinary life. I want all women to know that having an extraordinary life is not about the looks, the money, the clothes or the position in society it’s about what we believe we are, it’s about what is within us that make that energy going out and make us shine
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favourite city of all is London a vibrant, old and new city with always something to offer. For me it will be a combination of the typical tourist places combined with the places you go if you live here. I will spend a couple of days on Classic London: Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Camden Town, West End and Covent Garden. Definitely a visit to a very old pub around Holborn and some fish and chips To then go to some city views in The Shard, Dinner at Sky Gardens and a coffee at The Tate Modern Cafe. The others day a little exploration around Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Hoxton going ot little restaurants, nice cocktail bars and night clubs. A bit of flea markets and antiques too
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give some recognition to my family for their unconditional support in everything I do without them I wouldn’t be where I am right now specially my husband for his unconditional believe in me.Also to Arbonne the company I’m partner with that completely transformed my life thanks to their support and constant training and my mentor Sarah Law for her unconditional support and for seeing on me the potential that sometimes I couldn’t see myself
