We had the good fortune of connecting with Penelope Dizad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Penelope, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I love taking risks! As long as they are calculated! And I believe it’s an absolute necessity for positive and continuous career and personal.

By nature we’re preprogramed to stay in our comfort zones where we’re safe and protected from the unknown. Only when we take risks we allow ourselves to step outside of the box and explore opportunities to learn, grow, and change directions in life. It’s truly like paving new roads on the fabric of your destiny.

What should our readers know about your business?

I have a concert booking and promotion company called Pegasus Entertainment as well as an advertising agency called SocialAnt.

My educational background is Film Production and I worked in film and TV for several years after college. In 2015 I coordinated 3 seasons of a talk show that was hosted by a comedian. Later that year, I started booking and promoting live shows for the same comedian and that lead to a complete shift in my career from film to live events and concerts. Within the following 4 years, we booked an average of 60 shows per year globally and covered all major markets in USA, Canada, Europe, Scandinavia, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.

March 2020 however, was an entirely new reality for my industry and a true wake up call for me, realizing that putting all of the eggs in one basket is just not the smartest thing to do. That’s when SocialAnt was born. I already had years of experience in digital marketing and sales strategy for my events so it only made sense to use the pandemic as a wonderful opportunity to generate a completely new revenue stream.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You obviously never go wrong with the scenic recommendations for visitors in SoCal. Any fun beach-side activities and drives along PCH would definitely be fun for visitors. A few of my favorite restaurants and bar/lounges around LA are Il Pastio, Wallys, Baltaire, Yamashiro, Olivietta, and Barlis. Some other great places to see in LA are The Getty Museum and Villa, and Griffith Observatory where they can see the Hollywood sign. I’ll leave the rest up to them 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a few books that have played a pivotal role in my professional life. Time management made simple by Bryan Tracy, Getting More by Stuart Diamond, and Your Next 5 Moves by Patrick Bet David. All of these authors are a source of motivation, inspiration, and growth for me.
