We had the good fortune of connecting with Rochelle McLaughlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rochelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My first thought was “are you sure you want to do this?” As cliche as it sounds, the first thing I had to do was believe in myself before anyone else could. At times we can be our biggest critic. I know starting a business can be terrifying and overwhelming to many, considering all the risks but I chose to focus on my passion for the creative world whether it is music, fashion, arts or technology and structure a plan and method to introduce my business to the world. Each day I learn, each day I grow and so does my business and the beauty of it all is connecting and growing with other individuals. My thoughts are you don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Twelve21 Executive Group is a brand strategist company that provides creatives and business individuals with the resources and support they need to fulfill their potential, grow their brands, and enrich their communities and the world with their talent. No one business is the same so we curate custom plans to meet your level of need, using resources such as creator collabs, content partnerships with media outlets, digital marketing and promotions amongst other means. While most of our clients are in the music business, our venture into the film and theater sector with our newly signed client, is what I am most excited about for the upcoming new year.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in such a remarkable city there are so many places to go. Here are a few on my list, for breakfast If I want to keep it lowkey La Petite Marché or Thumbs up diner but if you’re looking for some vibes head over to toast on Lenox or breakfast at Barney’s. Afterwards take a stroll on the belt line and check out the wonderful local art all around , later that evening head over to The Roof at Ponce City Market for a few hours of fun before and end the night at my favorite cafe Intermezzo.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shout out to my family, my wife Sakina Anderson and our son. She has been so supportive every step of the way, uplifting me when I need it, enlightening my spirit and reassuring me my footsteps are guided. My Son definitely keeps me pushing each day, so I want to continue to lay the foundation of handwork, and perseverance, showing him anything is possible. Also I want to shout out my brother and friend Steven Lowe, we have weekly talks about goals for our family, businesses and finances, those talks keep us on our toes.
