We had the good fortune of connecting with ron geffen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ron, do you have a budget?
I must start with saying that life is too short to to not spend money on the things you want while you’re young! But aside from spending money on things like vacations or nice dinners, most of my money goes right back into my business. I spend most of my money on more audio or camera equipment, or software to use.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being both involved in the creation of music, and then soon after the videography portion of that world, it sometimes seemed like there was a lot on my plate. Even though i consider myself unbelievable lucky to even make enough to live on in this business, that doesn’t come without remembering the many weeks or months at a time without a single job. Thats the thing about starting a freelance, self employed job, theres no guarantee of the next job. A huge lesson i’ve learned over the years, is to maintain patience, stay as nice as you can to people, and always try to help, even if you don’t have to.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lets pretend there wasn’t a pandemic going on…My first stop would be maybe the grove, for lunch, A little shopping and food at one of my favorite places. For dinner id take my friend to somewhere like Katsuya or Sugarfish, if you know, you know. Then when the time comes to go out for drinks, a place that holds a special place in my heart, is Davey Waynes, but that would just be the first stop of a few on a good night out! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Theres not one person in particular to shoutout, because it’s a collective effort of everyone i’ve ever worked with, who’s gotten me to where i currently am. I do think if i had to choose two people who stand out, it would be my parents, for even though they were skeptical of my career path, supported me by supplying the things i needed to start my journey, when i was just about 17 years old.
