We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Cucinotta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I sort of fell into it. I was trying to find something I could make/give to friends around the holidays and was at a craft store, found the aisle with chocolate molds and thought “I could do that”. It took me a few years (and lots of practice and experimenting) to realize it could be more than just a hobby. Only in the last 3 years or so did I finally make the decision to take the further steps and make it an actual business.
What should our readers know about your business?
Starting a business is never easy, especially when you’re trying to do it during a pandemic. I was finalizing getting into my new, official work space and then COVID hit making it even more difficult to get everything sorted. Again it comes back to family and friends being there for support and advice when things become too stressful and you wonder to yourself “Am I making the right decision?”. You have to push through the doubt and the unknown otherwise you’ll never know if you would have been able to be successful at your craft. I’m most proud of just getting to this point, honestly. Opening my shop was a huge deal and something I didn’t really think I would do for a long time. Now that it is here, even with all the ups and downs, I am so excited to be starting this new chapter in my life and career.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family – without their help, connections, love and support I would not be where I am today.
