We had the good fortune of connecting with Sebastián Chicchón Motta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sebastián, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always considered risk-taking to be a significant aspect of my life, especially when it comes to my career. While I used to lean towards a more cautious and safe approach to everything in the past, I realized that that mindset was going to lead me nowhere so I started to embrace a bolder stance when making decisions and I feel that really paid off for me. Often, I find myself venturing into uncharted territory, fully aware that the outcomes are uncertain. However, in these cases, I just trust my intuition and hope for the best, and more often than not it ends up working out one way or the other.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what I am most proud of regarding my career is having trusted my intuition and my taste even if at times I felt not a lot of people understood it. I am proud of having trusted myself and having been really persistent with what I wanted to achieve. I don’t think it was easy because when I started I really knew nothing about what I was doing and also had no contacts so I really had to start from zero and find ways to get to where I wanted to be.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wel,l I have born and raised in Lima, Perú, so this city is naturally the city the one I know the most. If a friend was visiting me the first thing I would do is take him out to eat because the food in Peru is really really good. There’s this seafood restaurant I really love which I have been going to my whole life called “Punto Azul”, they make some amazing ceviches there.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send a shoutout to my family because without them I would be nowhere. Huge thanks to my mom for always pushing me to go after what I love and sticking with me no matter what. I am the person I am today because of her. To my dad, I would like to thank him for passing on to me his crazy passion when he sets a goal for himself. When he sets up his mind to achieve something he gets there no matter what, he just finds a way. And also, I want to thank my brother Salvador for always making me laugh and being my harshest critic but also the person that supports me the most. Without him, my life and work would be much more boring.
