We had the good fortune of connecting with Sebastian Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sebastian, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to be able to work with with top athletes and artists, in sport and lifestyle work. I’m working towards the soccer industry but i welcome all opportunities that come my way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer and creative across multiple digital media. What sets me apart from others is that i try to showcase the world of soccer beyond the field. The sport brought me to photography and i aim to showcase how relative it is to us, and the many ways people world wide include it in their lives.
The journey is never easy, and it’s been challenging on many occasions. As long as i enjoy what I’m doing and can surround myself with individuals who make it worthwhile i will continue to push the bar. If i had stopped every time something was difficult, i wouldn’t have earned a lot of the jobs that have come my way and the connections i have made with them.
I’d like the world to know that we should enjoy what we do, both for the benefit of ourselves and the work we put out.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the beach. I would show them Coney Island and the amusement park and everything it has to offer. NYC isn’t known for it’s beaches but guess what we have them! And we should make the most of them.
I would not let them leave without riding the Cyclone, taking a dip in the ocean, and having a slice at L&B with some spumoni ice cream.
The beach stretches out to other neighborhoods like Brighton Beach, and Manhattan Beach, both within walking/biking/skating distance whatever you prefer. Each neighborhood different from the previous regardless of it’s close proximity.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank all my friends that were willing to stand in front of the camera for me when i was just starting out. Asking professional models was too intimidating for a beginner learning the ropes, so i looked for the people around me. From childhood friends and family members to co-workers and teammates, i asked everyone who i thought fit my vision best. These relationships helped me build a portfolio and work on my craft, opening doors to land new opportunities and some paid work! If you’re reading this, i appreciate you greatly!
