We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaneisha Dodson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shaneisha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my ability not to give up on me. When times get hard, I stay calm and adapt to my environment. I also pray before I make any decisions. Sometimes things look good, but it’s not aligned with my purpose. Therefore, having discernment and strong faith is vital.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 2012, I founded Black Girlz Productions. I write, direct and produce stageplays. My productions include The Coffee Shop, Vagina Rights, Cheating on my Mistress, I’ll Be Single Before I Settle and Sweet Daddy. I just recently transitioned into films. My first short film Justice is currently in post-production. I’m proud of the film because I was able to successfully shoot it during the middle of the pandemic. Currently, I’m working on my next script titled The Therapy Chair.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just recently moved to Los Angeles, CA so I’m still exploring the city. If my best-friend came to visit the first thing we would do is have brunch. Anywhere that would include unlimited mimosas, great music, chicken and waffles. After our bellies are full, we would go to the beach and enjoy the sun. Afterwards, we would find a place to enjoy some live music or a comedy show.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to everyone who has supported Black Girlz Productions.
