We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheila Nazarian, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheila, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think the most important thing I have done as a parent is give my children independence to figure things out on their own. Now, this was not intentional. I had my children as a surgical resident at USC, working 80+ hours a week and spending every third night in the hospital on call. And when I was at home, I was usually sleeping or awake but exhausted. My kids kind of had to figure things out for themselves. They make their own breakfast and dinner. Oftentimes, they make meals for me! I am definitely there for them as a safety net and will adjust my schedule to make sure I am there for them and spend quality time together. But as far as their day-to-day, they have to think and problem solve. Their teachers comment on their humble nature and independence all the time. They ask me, “What did you do?” And I answer, “I wasn’t there.”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Sure! I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with a private practice in Beverly Hills. I also have a Masters in Medical Management degree from the Marshall School of Business at USC. Serving as an Assistant Professor in Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California brings me tons of satisfaction because I love to mentor the future generation of plastic surgeons. I have founded Nazarian Plastic Surgery, Spa26, The Skin Spot e-commerce site, and the Nazarian Institute where I bring thought leaders to teach business owners in the luxury space to Think BIG – Branding, Innovation, Growth. In 2020, I starred in the new Netflix original series: Skin Decision Before and After, which was a life-long dream come true. At home, I am married to a neurosurgeon, Dr. Fardad Mobin, and have three children. I also enjoy being an influencer in the digital space: @drsheilanazarian, @themodelsurgeon, @spa26.official, @theskinspotbeverlyhills, @thinkbig on Instagram and Nazarian Plastic Surgery on Facebook/YouTube.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My incredible, secure, and supportive husband. My three amazing children. And my loyal and dedicated staff.
