We had the good fortune of connecting with Shonte White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shonte, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I think the most important thing I have done as a parent is to teach my daughter that the sky is the limit and that you have options. I have raised her to know that you can do anything, and be anything as long as you are willing to do the work that it takes to succeed. I try not to limit myself to just one source of income, because I like to teach my daughter that there are multiple ways to live out your dreams, whether it’s college, entrepreneurship, going into the work force, you have options and I am going to show you just how many options you have to make your dreams come true.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a host of a comedic podcast called Sippinwithshonte. It is about dating, single life, motivation, and current events done in a comedic way while sipping on a cocktail. I actually had the idea for a podcast a couple of years before I launched. After multiple family members and friends repeatedly told me that my voice should be heard, I decided to take a leap of faith and take a chance on myself. I definitely have faced some challenges, seeing as how I didn’t know anyone that had a podcast, so there was a lot of work put into it in order to get it launched, I definitely have learned along the way to research, research, research! Trial and error, mistakes will always happen, and failing will occur, but you can’t succeed without failing. The world is so sad at times, I like that I can provide a platform that makes people smile or laugh, even for only 30 minutes a week (so far).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the Inland Empire about a hour away from Los Angeles and they definitely have a lot of hidden away gems out this way and in the Inland Empire. I love mom and pop shops so I would definitely go to P&G Burgers, they have a little bit of everything and the food is absolutely amazing! I also love a place called Cheesewalla. It is a grill cheese sandwich shop with about a dozen unique twist on a grill cheese sandwich. Also, what’s a best friends week without brunch? Pomona Valley Mining Company is my favorite place to go for brunch, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is so energetic. I love wine tasting so driving a short drive to Temeula would also be on the agenda seeing as they have almost 50 wineries in one area. We would definitely also plan a beach day you can’t visit Southern California without at least visiting the beach and the best thing is that our weather is amazing all year long!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people that really have my back! I would like to shoutout my daughter Makayla, she is my best friend, my biggest cheerleader and supporter. My mom and daddy for always sticking beside me and encouraging me. Also, my family, aunts, uncles, my cousins, especially my siblings, they always have my back no matter what! To all of my social media family, they support me and have never met me but they constantly share my podcast and listen to me and I appreciate it. Also, to my day one friends and my BGC club, you guys encouraged me to start this. My godsister Renita who stayed on me until I made it happen I love you (RIP). I receive love and support from so many people I am humble and grateful.
