We had the good fortune of connecting with SOLOMON EYOB and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SOLOMON, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from a small country in Africa not to many have heard of it is called Eritrea. Eritrea is one of the most beautiful places in all of the world, and one of the most if not safest place in the world and is home to the strongest army in Africa. Our Red Sea coast alone is home to over 300 hundred islands not to many even know of not to mention the rich historical background of the region that Eritrea holds to be shared. I speak and understand my native language Tigriyina fluently which helps me embrace other cultures today.
My background & upbringing has impacted who I am today tremendously. Starting with the sacrifice and struggles my family had to endure to make it to the US, the story is so much that I must work on a movie about it but in a nutshell literally running overnight during a war with fighter jets above you at any given moment dropping bombs from above so it’s a miracle to be here today. Whenever I felt like giving up on my dreams or any task/challenge life has in front of me, I would and still reflect on my early life and the stories and challenges my Negisti (queen) Grandma, my mother, my father, and other immediate family members had to overcome just for this moment of life that I have today for me to live and experience. That alone fuels the fire endlessly in my tank to overdrive in ways I cannot find words to express-which is how quitting became obsolete and NEVER an option in my life..even when I use to play madden video game I could be down 21-0 and I will still play until the clock reads 0 seconds because I believe in anything is possible so from a video game to a practice on the basketball courts I would/will NEVER quit.
Also seeing the transition my family had to experience coming from a small country in Africa to America not knowing english is something you would have to experience for yourself or watch in a film because its very…..What can I say…Challenging. Moving to any new country with nobody you know that currently lives there that can guide you is very risky at the least to say. I seen the same people who started with me (family & close friends) end up traveling down a road they wish they didn’t have all because they were following the crowd, so growing up it was very bold of me to be “SOLO” (StandOutLivingOriginal) stand up for myself and choose to be different and not following the crowd while they were treading down a path I didn’t want to travel on and I really feel like my background and where i’m from helped me embrace that it’s okay to be different just how I spoke a different language than English I can say no and be myself. Im very grateful that early in life I learned to follow my inner voice which I later on learned to know it is your intuition and how vital it is for us all to follow and be in tune with our own intuitions. I truly believe I learned that at a very early period in my life because of my families experience, where i’m from and my background.
What should our readers know about your business?
One of the world’s leading record label & full-service management, music production, publisher & digital music distribution company. We own & operate a comprehensive agglomeration of businesses in multitudinous countries like Eritrea, Senegal, Japan, Jamaica, Uk and few more.
What sets us apart is we empower and work with artists to not only help develop them as creative individuals but to also have them own and operate their own companies(s) so we don’t sign artists we partner with artists and there companies. Today alot of companies want to just sign an artists to there own company and blind the creative artists from the power of owning and building their own company/brand the right and legal way its actually a lot easier than most people think, goes back to following the crowd because most people assume it a lot more harder, guess its all perspective and how we view it.
ANYONE we affiliate/align our brand with are creative individuals who we believe by action define one of or all of our core values like the main one to be SOLO which is to Stand Out Living Original.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t know what is but I love the ocean and the coast lines, it could be that its the Red Sea in me lol but I love to be on the coast. Malibu is my favorite spot, my two favorite go-to is Geoffreys and Moonshadows I would have to take them there for the week and just enjoying the simple things in life like a barefoot walk on the beach during the sunset hours ( or sunrise lol )
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
