We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Noel Garrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, why did you pursue a creative career?
Oh gosh! I didn’t have any other choice, really! My Dad is an actor as well, so I’ve always been around the lifestyle. I grew up absolutely loving school plays, but it wasn’t until the 2nd grade where I made my entire class laugh while doing an improv game in a theater class…and that was it! I knew I needed to entertain for the rest of my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe movies and performances. And I was a terrible math and science student so…
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been both an actor and an athlete. In fact, sometimes during my high school years, I’d have to choose between doing the play that year, or playing basketball that season. So my life for so long was sports and arts, and I sort of combined the two. I loved the “drama” of sports, and I loved the athleticism of acting. Kobe Bryant was (and still is) an incredible influence on my work ethic and my hunger to always be better; and since his death, every thing I have done professionally and artistically has been in honor of his legacy of greatness. To put it simply, I have the Mamba Mentality as an actor, and I just want to make him proud.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay, first, I’d pick them up at LAX in a rented convertible. Then? We’d hit Hollywood Blvd and Sunset and see all the touristy things! Also, I desperately want to go to the Academy Awards Museum, so once that opens, we’d head over there. I’d then take my friend to Highland Park Bowl and play a few games and sip a few drinks. Any “Old Hollywood” site would be the place to go in my book!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my theater family in Orange County, CA. Specifically The Attic Community Theater. I have done a number of plays there and they are the most wonderful people I have met, and I am so proud of the work they have done as well as the work I’ve done with them.
