We had the good fortune of connecting with Storii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Storii, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is an essential part of who i am is a person. growing up i hated the cards i was dealt, so i decided to do something about it. In my neighborhood the average example of risk taking was participating in illegal activity’s. i didn’t see that as an effective practice of risk taking because of the average end result of death or prison. But from another prospective i didn’t see the logic in working a desk job for the rest of life. So the risk i decided to take was pursue a career in music. You wouldn’t believe how many people thought i was crazy, meanwhile they were involved in the most insane things. When i think about “Risk” in my career i always tell myself if i don’t do it then ill just be where i am now. So what am i really afraid of ? If i don’t take a chance ill never have a chance, not to mention i personally love living on the edge of seat. In 2016 i took a risk by quitting my job and moving to Los Angeles to really pursue my career fully. Prior to this I did everything i was programed to do by society. I went to college and had a job in relationship banking. But in the end i found myself unsatisfied and depressed. During this time i was still actively recording and investing all my money into a career as an artist but no matter how innovative i thought i was being i ended up with the same result. That lead me to taking my biggest risk i’ve ever took in 2016. Moving from somewhere you’ve been all your life, leaving your family and friends is not easy task. But my thought process was if i don’t ill always think, what if ? So i took the gamble and the rest has been history. Today i am a signed Songwriter working with some of my favorite artist, producers and executives. The biggest thing i would like people to take away from this is bet on yourself. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT. You have to walk into your dreams blind and learn along the way,

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So currently i’m published songwriter. In other words i help todays artist with there music. I collaborate with other writers and producers to creative material for others. An unofficial term for this is would be a “Ghost Writer”. So far i’ve worked with a dozens of multi-platinum grammy award winning producers and writers. Some of my most notable accomplishments is having the opportunity to have one of my demos cut by Akon (still waiting on a release) but currently i am working with Rubi Rose on her up coming album. I was able to get a publishing deal by building relationships and having great material but i cant stress enough how important building relationships is. It’s the most crucial part of a career in the music business. This process was not easy because you will run into people who aren’t responsive or just some people who don’t believe in your vision. But the biggest mistake you can make is become angry about it. Music is subjective some will hate it and some will love it and i see the gate keepers as no different. Keep striving and build with individuals who share the same vision because you never know where they may end up. I want the world to see me as someone who figured it out and never gave in to the noise around me

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The studio honestly, or Downtown LA because its just a great place with history

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
