We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Warner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aimee, how do you think about risk?
Everything is a risk.

The obvious risk is to venture into the unknown and try something new — but it’s also risky to stay put.

I could live my life comfortable. I could go to a 9-5 job every day with a steady paycheck, weekends off and two weeks of vacation a year. I could draw in a sketchbook and keep it to myself. I could stay home and watch tv. I could spend my life doing what is expected of me, and I would reach the end never having “failed”.

Or I could try to carve out a different path. I could quit a job that is perfectly fine, but ultimately unrewarding. I could listen to my inner voice and follow wherever passion leads me. I could be brave and put myself out there, regardless of what other people might think.

I’ve been guilty in the past of playing it safe. But life was passing me by. Something was always missing.

And so I made a conscious decision years ago to throw caution to the wind. It’s a much scarier (and some would say “riskier”) way to live life. But it’s also infinitely more rewarding. My new way has led to learning and personal growth, meaningful connections with some amazing people, and most recently, a rewarding new business venture.

It’s not always easy, and it sometimes takes me awhile to get up the courage to venture forth. But it’s always worth it. Even in failure, I learn and grow from the experience. And when I succeed – well, there’s really no better feeling. 🙂

I’d take that risk over the risk of getting to the end of my life never having done the things that have called to me any day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Art can be used in so many different ways: to illustrate a thought or feeling, to further a political agenda, to remind you of a different time or place. It can also just be pretty. 🙂

My aim in creating art is to make people smile. My art is happy and colorful and hopefully something that would bring joy when passing it on your wall every day.

I think the world has enough problems. There’s enough darkness. I want to make people forget about that darkness, even if for a short period of time. Doing that is the most rewarding experience for me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is it strange that all of the places that first spring to mind are food-related?? 😂

My tourist visitor would definitely and first off have to satisfy some sweet-cravings with Salt & Straw for some delicious ice cream, Suzie Cakes for some amazing desserts, and Bolt for the tastiest cookies you’ve every experienced. As far as eateries go, Plan Check has the best burgers and La Paella has some amazing paella (go figure!).

Non-food-related excursions that are fun would be Malibu Wine Safari, a day-trip to Catalina, or hiking pretty much anywhere a trail exists. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my gosh, there are so many people that have helped me along the way! How do I choose who to shout out to???

Finding fitness and the confidence that comes along with realizing that you are indeed capable of doing things that you never thought you could do was a huge turning point in my life. This turning point would never have happened without the quality gym that Andy Thompson created in Hollywood Strength & Performance (formerly CrossFit Hollywood).

I also have to shout out to the two most important people in my life: my boyfriend, Kadyr, and my best friend, Liz. They have both been so instrumental in pushing me to expand past my comfort zone, believing in me and supporting me in all of my crazy endeavors. I would definitely not be where I am today without the two of them.
