We had the good fortune of connecting with SubSpace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SubSpace, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since High School, I have been drawn towards music and the creative side. I had been deeply involved in all the co-curricular activities in my High School and always had fun.
When I was pursuing Graduation, there was a time when I was working 4 Jobs at once. Mostly Work From Home in order to start earning something for myself. The peer pressure of work took a toll on me once or twice every week. I felt the pressure and then decided that working for yourself and building your brand always helps you give work freedom.
I always stand by this quote, “Work for what you love, and you would never have to work again”
Therefore, realization struck me and in 2018 I left all the Jobs and Work From Home Internships to pursue my Artist Career known as ‘SubSpace’
The Freedom as well as the point of view towards work completely changed and I decided to go ahead with it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make and produce Music and Beats.
I like to think that there is nothing special in me that sets me apart from others, there are much more talented people out here in the Music Industry.
I am just proud of seeing, listening and feeling how my music makes people feel different emotions.
I got into music 9 Years ago and ever since I started, there was something about music which made me feel that through music, we can portray our feelings and other people (listeners) can relate to it or feel something. This has been the most fascinating thing for me in Music that it has the power to make people feel a feeling. I am really excited about what’s there for me in the future and cannot wait to explore more opportunities.
I come from a Middle Class Indian Family and was fortunate enough to have a Computer at my home where I polished my skills and learnt more from YouTube. After a few years I felt like I was improving and this is what kept me going.
Being a Creative Artist, there is always a time when you feel lost/ let down, the thing for me which kept me driven was the Goals that I had in mind. The drive to achieve them is what kept and keeps me going.
Persistence, Dedication and Love for your art is the Key for me.
Through my artist Moniker, I want the people to know that things eventually work out if you keep trying to work it. There is no one in my Family that has a Music Background and I eventually took it up just because I fell in love with the motive and feeling behind the music. For me, it has always been persistence and dedication to learn and improve in any field.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I do not go our much.
Some places that I would definitely take them to is my Studio. To have some great food, Burra Bazaar in Kolkata is the place to be.
And for a late night party, Roxy at The Park is my go to place always.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It would be my Mother. I owe it all to her. The support and belief that she has shown me right from the start when I started doing Music is what keeps me going until now.
Even now, when I feel a bit let down, she is always the one who is there to motivate me.
