We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamia Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Naturalistic Brows helps the community in many ways. We give Areolas and Brows to women and men whom have fought a good fight against breast cancer and won. A Areola tattoo or even brows can make a survivor feel complete again. I have heard so many times from women and men say that after reconstructive surgery they still don’t feel whole or they feel insecure. This is not for every women or man but we defiantly help restore some of the confidence that was lost. I also can give microblading to a alopecia client so there face does not feel bare any more. We can give a Mom, Grandma or Aunt or Nurse or Doctor anyone that just needs a extra boost of confidence some beauty love. We all know that eyebrows frame your face and the right lip color can brighten the face and even make you look and feel more youthful. The real power of beauty comes from ones confidence. Naturalistic Brows makes real connections with their clients and its community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The art I do is considered body art. I can draw a eyebrow in my sleep. I tattoo eyebrows with a machine either giving a natural make up look or giving realistic hair strokes. I also give Cancer Survivors Areola Tattoos bye using a light source color and texture to make them look 3D like a true Areola. I do something called lip blushing which can give more definition and color to the lips or even neutralize a dark lip. Those are just the top 4. I think what sets me apart from the rest is my drive tenacity and a tad of OCD with my art which makes me really meticulous about what is going onto someone’s body. Using Vegan or organic products is very important to me as well. Its less likely of a allergic reaction. I only use the best on my clients. I truly care even after you have paid me. I go the extra mile to build client relationships that last. I got to to where I am today. 1. with countless hours of practicing my craft. 2. Being very persistent and not giving up on myself. Taking calculated leaps of faith and making sure I speak to positively to myself. Was it easy heck no, I worked a fulltime job for 2 years and had to cook and be a mother and a wife while trying to pursue something new after 17 years in Corporate America. I took a leap of faith once i got busy enough to support myself so I thought. Business has its peak seasons and you need to be ready for this financially. That was my first hard lesson. The other lesson was that you have to be extremely savvy and stay true to yourself and to be consistent. In this business people don’t just only book off of pictures alone they book off trust and feelings. You have to show up everyday as yourself and spoil the hell out for clients. I am not saying just take anyone either your integrity and how you are perceived as a business goes along way. My brand is Honest and built of real values not just money.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say lets go to the beach and hang out. Lets go to Simmzy s in HB and get some drinks and look at the water. We could go to the Arts district in Laguna Beach or even go shopping at The Grove in Los Angeles. I loove Beverly Hills lets go buy a purse or some shoes ha ha ha. I love to eat drink and shop can you tell. I also love roller skating and wish I could find more time to skate so we could go to the roller rink and listen to music while we skate. Swimming, Skating eating and drinking all week long.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my family. Rudo, Azaniah, Trinity and Isaiah whom have stood behind me in every part of my business journey. My daughter whom is only 10 years old is extremely encouraging. My husband has helped so much with a lot of mental support and even helping me not to give up and see the growth in my journey. My other two sons are always there to help me move stuff around the shop clean up and just stand in when I am really busy.
