We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Marie Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor Marie, what do you attribute your success to?
There are so many different factors that have contributed to the success of my brand. Starting & running a business came with high & lows (depending how you look at it). I’ve learned so much about myself & life in general & am still learning every day with every trial & every error. I’ve found the importance in surrounding myself with people who not only inspire me, but see me, support me & believe in me. I’m also really big on positive thinking patterns, staying inspired & over all just keeping myself motivated. To be able to accomplish what I have I would have to say I’ve learned that maintaining a positive & resilient mindset is a day in & day out process, but it’s also key. While I was building a strong mindset & work ethic I was also elevating my spirit & in turn developed a level of understanding & trust in my process. This ultimately led to trusting in myself. This is a loaded question for me because I know that I’m far from the pinnacles I plan to reach, but in the same breath I’m much closer than where I began; & by the end of my journey I will have an extensive list of factors behind my success story.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s a lot more that I’m working towards, but I think it’s important to always acknowledge how far I’ve come. I’m blessed to have a strong support system that truly believes in me. That’ll tell me the things I don’t like or necessarily want to hear & that will push me to reach my full potential, especially on the days I could use a little kick. The list of challenges I’ve overcome is literally endless which is exactly why I credit majority of my success to my resilience. The lessons I’ve learned along the way have really built me into the person I am today & will continue to mold me in the future to come. There’s so much that I’m proud of & even more that I’m excited for. I’ll never forget the first time I sold a painting or the first time I sold a candle. It’s really the growth that really makes every step of the way worthwhile. I still get emotional when customers express how much they love my work. It’s one of the best feelings in the world & I’m just grateful to be able to connect with people through my art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m so easy going & like to keep it low-key so one of my favorite things to do with my friends is pull up to a nice view or the beach with good food, good music & good vibes. Paco’s, Sky’s Tacos, Wings World, Honey’s Kettle, Lamonica’s, Mario’s, the Parlor because they have some pretty bomb wings, Mateo’s for the fire fruit & Versailles are all so bomb & just a few of the many places I like to eat! I definitely love the brunch vibes because sunny days in LA are just way too perfect, but the city is really so beautiful at night & there’s so many spots to catch a nice sunset.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely would not be as far as I am without the genuine support & belief from my family & friends. They keep me motivated, inspired, uplifted & going in the right direction. It truly does take a village & I am forever grateful for the people that make mine. There’s no finish line I’ll ever cross without them.
