Meet Tessa Brand | Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tessa Brand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tessa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Knowing that I wanted ownership over my time, the freedom to build a family life with flexibility, entrepreneurship felt like the best path. I was driven to build something of my own—investing my energy into a vision I believed in, rather than channeling that effort into growing someone else’s business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my company nearly 14 years ago with zero formal event planning experience—but I had a work ethic, strong communication skills, and a production mindset that set me apart in those early years. As a wedding planner, you collaborate with a wide range of personalities in high-stakes, emotionally charged environments. I quickly learned that success isn’t about a formula—it’s about tailoring each experience to the client’s unique priorities, communication style, and vision. Today, I’m incredibly grateful that Tessa Lyn Events is regarded as a luxury brand—while still feeling warm and approachable. That balance has always been deeply important to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to Kathryn Barron and Alicia Nierenberg, my senior coordinators, who have stood beside me for nearly a decade helping build this company and shape our brand. Their loyalty, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to the best interests of the business have been instrumental in our growth at Tessa Lyn Events. They are intelligent, driven women, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have them as part of this journey.
