We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Ashley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been involved in some form of arts growing up in Nashville. Whether it was church choir, middle school band, or musical theatre in college – I was in it. Singing and performing has been such an important part of my life and I cannot imagine not doing it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been singing and performing my entire life it seems like. After college I took a break from performing and joined the military. I felt a sense of calling to give more to my country. After almost a decade in the US Army, I’m using tactics that I learned from the military to apply it to my professional career. Whether it’s “planning an operation” or “attacking an objective”, I am using those tactics to further my career goals. I know what my strengths and weaknesses are so I play to them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tell you my secret spots? Not a chance. I’m a person that loves to get away and not feel like I’m in a big city. So I drive to the beach or mountains to disconnect from the sounds of LA. In all honesty, a beer from a local brewery, some place where we can play cornhole and enjoy a conversation.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really want to thank my girlfriend. She has been by my side throughout the process of making my own music. She continuously pushes me to be a better singer, writer, and just all-around better artist. She plays a large role behind the scenes.
