We had the good fortune of connecting with Valentyna Sichko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valentyna, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
There are many different habits that you can become successful, Having any good habits is the most important thing you need in order to succeed. I have proved it myself. One point in my life i got very distracted from the things i was doing and got very lazy, felt unhealthy, unmotivated, and sad all the time. But i started to research a lot and read books on how to have a healthy and a happy life. The first habit i would suggest is exercising. Exercising has been one of the best habits i have ever had, it helps you not only stay in shape but helps you with your mentality, feel happier and more energized. It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise you do walking, biking, working out, running, it will help you to get more successful in what you wanna do. The second thing i would suggest is really seeing what you are eating. When people say try to avoid junk food they really mean it. Eating unhealthy again makes you tired, unhappy and you just don’t feel good about it after. Try to eat smaller portions have lots of water, healthy fats like avocado, seeds, nuts (you can find everything online). The third thing is to try to learn something that will get to your goal. For example reading articles, books, news ect… I find it when i read a lot i feel good about myself or i get to learn something new. Now these days its harder for people to open up a book and read something that will motivate them or inspire them or make them feel some sort of way, so i suggest at least 15 min a day to find time and read something. There’s a lot more habits that could help you be succeed, some of them seem easy and some of them seem hard but just give time, practice it and you will not only see the results but also feel good about yourself and your mentality.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I do many different types of arts like dancing, drawing, photography. But I focus the most on Acting and Singing. I feel like these two types of arts I am the best in. Acting I get to play a role that I create and tell a story. With singing I write my story and get to sing it. So for both of those arts I really get to express myself and it’s like therapy for me. I definitely think I am different from others as well as my work. For example, I have a technique for acting that I do and add some of my spice to it as I like to say, so what i’ve been through the good and the bad moments, feelings that I felt for people ect…and I add it to my character. I don’t like to play my characters plain and boring. For singing I add my ukrainian culture in it, again because of the things i’ve lived through it motivates me to write songs. Each time I write a new song it gets better and better! I try to add some ukrainian, russian, latin and english lyrics to it and make sure when others sing my song or listen to it they could hear/see what my story is and feel it with me. Oh man, it was very tough for me. And still till this day I’m trying to work as harderset i can to get better and better at it. For singing I kept going to vocal classes to train my voice and understand the music and it took me years to get it. I did many singing competitions and the judges told me I would never be able to sing and get nowhere until one day I got recognized by my producer who has helped me in so many ways in music and in life. For acting it was the most difficult for me because I am the most passionate about it, and for four years I didn’t have an agent. I would do all acting gigs for free, and the paycheck didn’t matter to me. I just always wanted to film and work. Nobody would take me and I kept taking acting classes and learning more about the craft. Soon I realized I needed to change my way because I felt like I was going the same way all the time, so I had to take a different approach. Which I did and it helped me to get more to where I am today! So the thing i noticed is to never give up and always try different things, try to go different paths to get to your point. I am so happy that I went through a lot of rejections in my career. I have been told that I will never make it or eventually I will give up…and I have learned a lot from it. I feel way stronger than ever! I take all the rejections and all the times I’ve cried and motivate myself to keep going! I want everyone to know my story and see that everyone goes through hard times and it’s okay because we are all humans! That you’re not alone. I am just a small girl with big dreams! And if i can do it then anyone can!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Toronto ON and there are many amazing spots to go to. The first thing I would do is take a bike ride on the lakeshore and get some coffee at tim hortons, we would get ice capp, which is one of the popular drinks here in tim hortons. Then we would go to Port Credit near Mississauga and the lakeshore (area) and get some lunch at one of the restaurants there. You have so many amazing views there. It’s my favourite spot to go to. At night I would take downtown around Eaton centre (mall) . It’s like a mini New york, it’s so great. Great music playing and you can get some good dinner and desserts there. If you come to toronto you can’t miss the CN tower and the ripley’s aquarium. The two most popular things that people go to when they visit toronto! I mean there’s so many more things to try here in toronto. Lakeshore and downtown is where most people hang out and take their dogs out or just go for bike rides and walks. You get to have a view of the CN tower and the whole of Toronto which is amazing! We have so many restaurants that are open like Lavelle, Kost, and Fresh Restaurant. We also have fast food restaurants like wendys, a&w and so much more! If my best friend was visiting we would be busy all day everyday cause there’s so many things to do.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have a lot of people to give shoutout to! I want to thank to all the haters, because without them I wouldn’t be as strongest as today. This might sound cheesy or weird but to my ex-friends, ex-guys I truly want to thank you because I have learned the biggest lessons in life. I want to give a shoutout to my group of friends, and you know who you are, you have also supported me through many good and bad times and I have learned from you guys as well, we went through so much together as a group. Thank you to my coach Judah Katz and my Producer Roy Hamilton III for being a big support in my life and throughout my career, pushing me not only in my craft but also in life! I give big thanks to you! And I can’t forget my family! they have always been support since day one and I really want to thank them and say that I am the luckiest daughter and sister. Without you guys I wouldn’t be who I am today.
