We had the good fortune of connecting with zoë vickers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi zoë, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
my end goal is to develop vintagephiles™️ (vPh) into a global lucrative multidisciplinary platform for vintage curation
my dream which i am living through vintagphiles isn’t a “career”, more of a calling | the culmination of this calling will equal providing a multidisciplinary platform for vintage creatives/curators (particularly people of colour) to flourish globally while forging my own vintage profile into the forefront | vintagephiles will be a multimillion+ dollar business that cultivates culture & shares the true definition of curated nostalgia™
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
what sets me apart from others is not only my art of being a vintagephile™️ but the juxtaposition of committing said art to sharing the adroitness of living curated nostalgia™️ globally across the Diaspora as i live abundantly through my global citizen journey | kudos to my “homes” while I am in Los Angeles’ Leimert Park to Brooklyn’s Stuyvesant Heights to Johannesburg’s Sandton | our history isn’t always readily shared in a light of prosperity, innovation, legacy building and this is the underlying core of what it means to be a vintagephile |
i am very proud that i have continued forging forward through my entrepreneurial path which started at the tender age of 10.5 years young to where i am today as we launch our first luxury beauty product collaboration, taping of a second season of the acclaimed IGTV talk series “the curated nostalgia™” and finalizing the first edition of vintagephiles’ coffee table book | thankful for these puzzle pieces in the vintagephiles™️ story and excited to be a beacon for anyone who needs the encouragement to always bet on yourself | trust and believe, it is not easy yet i always reside from a place of abundance; it is my birthright | challenges have ensued and even when they do, I simply pivot to another plateau of elevation while learning
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
well i have five (5) best friends (shut up lol) and it actually depends on who is visiting me while i am on the left coast | a plethora of adventures will include hunting for wares at both the Rose Bowl Flea and Fairfax Flea, weekend market shopping in Leimert Park Village (my enclave), hike the two hundred and fifty-two stairs at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, picnic at Point Dume Beach, tapping into our cores at Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine, dining at favourites such as Stuff I Eat, Gracias Madres, Grain Cafe, Ysabel and Bacari to name a few, taking a jaunt around the scenic Palos Verdes Peninsula, catch an exhibit at CAAM and Underground Museum, partake in a few wine libations and say hi to Stanley the Giraffe at the Malibu Wine Safari, grabbing a burger at Hawkins House of Burgers in Watts, wander down Abbot Kinney in Venice, witness the Korean Bell of Friendship in Angels Gate Park and catch the sunset from El Matador | these are some of the interesting, exciting adventures that i would take my BFFs to check out
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
i would like to shoutout my tribe which includes not only my family but my soul family as well as my ancestors | their support, encouragement, calls to task and simply love is another piece of armor that allows me to live and dream abundantly
thank you Mummy, Toya, Damien, Maikoiyo, Chante, Dawn, Chimene, Freddy, Paula, Niel, Aldith, Nina and of course my fiancé, Tahrim Kahlis
