Parenting is an incredibly important responsibility and so we wanted to get a conversation going with input from parents in the community. We asked them: what is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

The most important thing I have done as a parent in terms of impacting my child is that I am exemplifying the importance of following my personal pursuits within my business. As a creative arts healer I am exemplifying to my child the importance to also make space for integration through the ebbs and flows of building my business. Baking was always an interest of mine since childhood. It was a hobby and then when I started having children I would bake for them all the time. I started this business for my family as extra income at first. I always dreamed of having a bakery so with the support of my wonderful husband and nine amazing children, in late 2019, I started Ever After Bakery out of my home kitchen, and I was off to a slow start. As misfortune would have it the pandemic hit early 2020 and Ever After Bakery was at a standstill. It was very discouraging to say the least and the pandemic brought forth many challenges, losses, and set backs in many ways and as it turned out Ever After became our means to provide for the family. Believing in myself. Self-doubt, self-sabotage, and questioning our worth are all a part of our adult lives, but it begins at a very young age. We see the people we look up to and we learn about their fears, challenges, and sacrifices. Once I had my daughter, I realized the only thing holding me back was my own belief that I didn’t deserve to succeed. The idea that I wasn’t good enough. I am so grateful to be Zoe’s mom.
