We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

Success, to me, means being able to make a living doing what you’re truly passionate about—especially if that passion brings you joy and fulfillment. It also means being able to support yourself independently while pursuing that passion. Read More>>

To me, success isn’t just about accomplishments, it is about resilience, growth, and how you respond when things fall apart. Generation Blonde was originally slated to open in April of 2020. We were just two weeks away from our opening date when the entire world was more or less shut down due to the pandemic. What was supposed to be an exciting, exhilarating time turned into something very different that no one could have prepared me for. Read More>>

The most important thing I’ve done as a single-parent entrepreneur is to keep an open and honest dialogue with my kids. I share my wins, losses, fears, and goals with them in age-appropriate ways. I let them know that I’m living my dream by working in a career I love—but that some days can feel too overwhelming. And I remind them that even the toughest days will pass if you stay calm and focused on the overall achievements. Read More>>

Discipline, for me, is what separates a musician from someone who simply plays music. Talent may be the spark, but discipline is the firewood that keeps the flame alive—day after day, year after year. From the outside, people often romanticize the creative process, thinking it’s all inspiration and emotion. But the truth is, most of the music I’ve created, the records I’ve worked on, and the performances I’ve delivered were all built on routine, commitment, and hours of invisible work. Read More>>

Reading “Rebel Without a Crew” by Robert Rodriguez was incredibly influential on me as a teenager, both as a burgeoning filmmaker (Rodriguez repeatedly advises against people calling themselves “ASPIRING filmmakers,” just go ahead and let yourself be a filmmaker) and as a Texan seeing another Texan break into the industry and continue to make such a wide cultural impact to this day. When I’m asked what inspires me, the answer is simple: everything. Music, nature, long walks, deep conversations with friends or colleagues — inspiration is everywhere. But for me, nothing compares to raw emotion. Real-life experiences, both joyful and painful, move me in a way that compels expression. Dance allows me to take those moments and translate them into movement, into something beautiful and honest. Read More>>

Connection, in all its forms, is my highest value. I thrive on fostering meaningful relationships—whether it’s matching clients with the right therapist, deepening my connections with clients, colleagues, friends, and family, or simply being present for those who need support. I feel energized by the exchange of ideas, emotions, and experiences, and I consider it a profound privilege to be invited into someone’s personal world. It is an honor to be the person others turn to in moments of hardship, celebration, or self-discovery. Read More>>

Authenticity. What matters most to me is staying true to who I am — being authentic, even when the industry tries to mold you into something else. Whether I’m playing a charming villain in a Lifetime thriller or trying to convince you that this pert food is good for your dog’s joints, I have to bring truth to the role. That’s what resonates with people. That’s what makes a mediocre script come alive — authenticity, dedication, and a refusal to settle for less than what the moment deserves. Read More>>

I disagree with the advice that what you need is more information, and that information is power.
You don’t need more information. There is tons of information already out there. We have a whole encyclopedia available to us at our fingertips through Google, through AI, through YouTube.
We are living in the information era. Read More>>

I don’t agree with the idea that everything is achieved through effort alone. There are different ways to achieve goals. Effort is only one part, along with creativity, preparation, luck, and desire. Some of these things can be worked on, while others must be pursued until they arrive. Read More>>
