We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Jean and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Taking risks has been a KEY role in my life/career. I took risks as a spoken word artist getting up on stages around the world sharing my innermost feelings. I took risks working a year traveling around the US as a freelance photographer, videographer and sales rep. I took risks on myself by spending thousands on online courses and mentors to further grow my businesses. I took risks leaving my corporate job making about $4.5k a month to making $1.5k a month getting my consulting business and my partner and I’s marketing production businesses off the ground. I’m taking calculated risks as an entrepreneur and business owner in the midst of a global pandemic and growing recession. I would not be where I am right now without taking risks. If you want to reach your level of personal success, you have to get uncomfortable and take risks to see what works for you while figuring out the lifestyle you want to live. Your life/career will only be as limited as you make it. If I didn’t take risks, I would still be in the same place at my corporate job wishing I made a move.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Resources Into Revenue is a consulting business that helps new and emerging entrepreneurs confidently market their business through creative storytelling and personal branding. Currently, I work one-on-one with my clients in 4-week intensives and individual strategy sessions. I work with personal brands, small businesses, non-profits and major corporations. What sets me apart as a business owner, is that I’m also a creative who believes in being your authentic self. I have a range of technical, business and creative skillsets from outside the business industry that allows me to bring a youthful, tech-forward approach to my client’s implementation strategies. One thing about business, everything is subject to change and every business owner will experience failure. My personal experiences, educational journey, and trials and errors bring a unique perspective to my industry. I want the world to know who I am as a person, is who you get as a business owner. I’m invested in the people that I surround myself with and ensure I’m giving them the best version of myself – that’s exactly how my client’s experience feels when engaging with my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm… there’s so many! I would take them by Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen in Inglewood, CA for some bomb tea or iced lattes. We would go by Dockweiler Beach but in my little secret non-crowded area to get some sun and catch up. We would hit up Bao Dim Sum House in Mid-City / Beverly Grove area for some delicious seafood dumplings and drinks. The next day we would hit up a co-work spot like Vector 90, Innovative Entrepreneurs Hub, Metaphor Club or LA Create Space to brainstorm/get some work done. Grab some amazing vegan ice cream from Larayia’s Bodega in Koreatown, hit up an art museum and grab some mouth-watering ramen from Jinya Ramen. Next day head to Long Beach for bike rides at the beach, grab some super fresh sushi from Sushi Ai on 2nd Street, meet up with my other friends for drinks and convo in downtown long beach. I could go on and on and on! lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my tribe! One of the most important things that life has taught me, is that people are in your life to bless you in seasons. I’ve had so many people pour into me throughout my life. Family, friends, mentors acquaintances and strangers who have all showed UP and showed OUT. I never sought out to become an artist, but my community challenged me to share my art, then supported me into being a full-time freelance artist. My community supported my business endeavors and have shown up to purchase the various services I’ve provided over the past two and a half years. I want to shoutout my lovely man, Mychal Scott, who has stood by my side for the last three and a half years of this journey. He has been the greatest teammate I could ask for, in my personal and professional life. Thanks to his ongoing support, I’m now a full-time entrepreneur and business owner. Everything that has happened to me in my life, has been from my tribe seeing more in me than I saw in myself. They push me to continue sharing, inspiring, creating and educating those around me.
