My favorite affirmation is actually something that my dad has told me time and time again throughout my life, which is “Be here now”. He says it all the time – when I hit milestones, but also to celebrate the little things. I even remember him saying this when we were on a rollercoaster when I was a kid. Read more>>

“In the end, somehow, it all works out.” This is something I repeat to myself when I am in the most stressful moments during a production. I combine it with the idea that even so, I can’t relax and that it’s ok if things have to flow to a new direction. It gives me the strength to keep on working hard and to also adapt to unforeseen events. I have the conviction that if something is difficult, it will be worth it, it will be good. Whether it’s more or less liked, but the satisfaction of having done my best to complete it, that’s what fulfils me in the end. Read more>>

“What have you done for you today?” This is my favorite quote/affirmation/question to ask myself. I find that in our daily lives, between kids, working, social media, etc. we often forget to take care of ourselves. I believe that by asking ourselves this question, we can make sure to pause and reflect on our days and the ways in which we cared for ourselves. Perhaps the answer is that it was not the best day for self-care. If that is the case, we can make a concerted effort the next day to make ourselves more of a priority. Read more>>

Britt Harris | Actor, filmmaker, singer/songwriter

When he’d see me get into my head when approaching a scene, a coach of mine would always (kindly) remind me: “you cannot be creative and critical at the same time.” I am a deeply creative person who wants nothing more than to be in flow and free, and, simultaneously, I am an analytical person who craves structure and strategy. This simple mantra is an anchor for me – it reminds me to take a deep breath, let go, and be free and messy in my work when it is time to create. To enjoy the process, follow my instincts, and be fully alive in this moment. Read more>>

“With action comes clarity” is a quote I like to keep top of mind. As an artist operating a small business, I wear a lot of hats. Juggling numerous tasks and making challenging decisions comes with the territory, which doesn’t always leave a lot of time to create. When I feel overwhelmed or unsure, just getting started is the hardest part. In those moments, I try to remind myself that making progress, no matter the amount, leads to forward momentum. In the midst of “doing,” what to do next becomes more apparent. Read more>>

“I want to be an honest man and good writer” -James Baldwin There are so many factors in this industry that are completely out of our control. And we can drive ourself mad trying to more than one thing to any and everyone. These are two goals that I fully believe I can strive to always reach. The rest of it will happen when it happens. I guess you can call this a quote but I really live by the 3M’s. Make A Choice, Make The Commitment and Make It Happen. Make A Choice is important because choosing is your birth right so you have to choose or say yes to pursuing your dream to solidify it in your life’s script. Making The Commitment is powerful because a Commitment is a set mind and a set attitude. So you are isolating yourself from everything that is not leading you to your destiny and committing to the time, the work, building relationships etc. Read more>>

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer I believe the first time I came across this quote, I was watching an old PBS special Wayne Dyer did on the Tao Te Ching. It really opened my eyes to the beauty of the world and power of the mind. It’s so true. Perspective is everything. Sometimes you have to reframe the way you view a situation to see it for what it really is (or isn’t). As an artist and musician, I deal with the music industry a lot and it can be very up and down. I was rejected a lot early on in my career and I would spiral when I heard the word “no”. Read more>>

I have many favorite quotes from Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But if I had to choose one I would say it is from Arnold Schwarzenegger one he’s said “Be hungry for success. Hungry to make your mark. Hungry to be seen and to be heard and to have an effect. And as you move up and become successful, make sure to also be hungry for helping others.” One of the many reasons why I want to become successful is so that I can give back to others who believed in me when nobody else did. Trust me when I say when I make it, I’m coming back for everyone. Not for everyone who said I couldn’t make it but for everyone who said I could and I’m going to shower them with great fortune,..just wait. Read more>>
