We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Cesarini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Eastchester, New York, which is part of Westchester County. My brothers and I watched our parents worked multiple jobs and take every opportunity to give us the best life they could. Eastchester is a tight knit community, and we consider many of our neighbors to be family.

I’ve carried the lessons my parents taught me into my adult life, and like to think of the small team working on Sociale as an extension of my family. Investing in these relationships has always paid off for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve definitely taken a nontraditional career path. My first job after college was based in the Bahamas working for a Spring Break company (highly recommend), but I’ve also worked in client relations for luxury automobiles, been a recruiter, and most recently have worked in tech. The concept of needing to know exactly what you want to do the minute you’re technically an adult used to scare me, until I realized that I actually *didn’t* need to know. I love trying new things, and I encourage young people to do the same. It’s definitely not easy, and the unknown is scary, but I’ve approached every career pivot as a learning opportunity, and try to always make it fun.

Sociale was born out of our apartment in the middle of the pandemic, and it’s been a labor of love. I’m proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time and really excited for what’s to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
[Not sure if this is supposed to be an LA-centric questions, so answering about my town. Hope that’s ok!]

We’re based in Jersey City, NJ, and are OBSESSED with all this city has to offer. It’s a really diverse city across the river from Manhattan, with incredible restaurants and a fun nightlife scene. The pandemic has been hard on local small businesses, so we’re always making a point to support them as they’ve pivoted to outside dining and seating spaces.

My favorite date spot is Cellar 335, mainly due to it’s crazy tiki-bar themed drink menu and incredible food, but also love Porta, Buon Appetito for pizza, Batello on the water for the views of Manhattan, and Surf City in the summer for lobster rolls and frozen drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although it’s taken a village to get the business off the ground, I wouldn’t have known where to begin without the support of my fiancé, Greg. He’s had marketing jobs with some pretty major companies, and helped me turn my vision into a reality. He’s also very cute and that helped a lot on the more challenging days.
