We had the good fortune of connecting with Andres Fragoso Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andres, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was always helping people. I found a niche in writing and became a publisher. I like helping others with publishing their books, memoirs, and everything else they have to say.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an author, I created Writer’s Sidekick (The Writer’s Sidekick is a perfect system that helps writers turn their ideas into captivating novels. With its easy-to-follow layout and simple writing exercises, this process can take you from jotting down notes to writing out your entire story. It’s truly an innovative way to speed up your writing process.) which gave rise to Writer’s Sidekick Publishing.
Authors that use these books are so happy with the outcome of their stories.
However, now that I learned about Amazon’s practices, I created a company called www.paytheauthor.com to help authors get paid their due royalties.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week in Las Vegas for me is away from the Strip. Las Vegas has so much to offer in the suburbs. Breakfast on Sundays with one of the authors is a must. We spend 3 hours eating, talking, planning her next book, and marketing. During the week is lunches with different authors each day. Sometimes for a quick meal, other times to go over their notes and due dates. We like the local cuisine at restaurants that are not a chain but more of the Mom n Pops type. Thursday nights I spend two hours or more on video conferencing with 5 or more authors in our pajamas reading and critiquing our manuscripts. Once dor twice a week I go with photographer Wally Hawkins to take pictures for his upcoming books. Sometimes I wonder how I get my work done when I spend so much time with my lovely clients. There is never a dull moment in my life as a publisher, as an author, and as a friend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I like to shout out to all the authors that have succeeded along with me, Lauren Tallman, Ned Barnette, Valerie J Runyan, Each one gives me encouragement and asks so many questions that I get to learn from them as well. I love doing my job because I get to see them smile when someone buys their books.
