We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna & Camille Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna & Camille, what do you attribute your success to?
We definitely feel an important factor of the success of our brand, The Ultimate Picnic is the ability to express our creative vision with others and create memorable moments with the people that matter most. Just as we would with our family and friends! Also the genuine outpouring support from not only from our friends and family, but from complete strangers who admire and believe in our craft.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’re super excited to launch all of our new packages that combine our love for food, culture, and the memories created around a table (picnic table in our world) ☺️
The road to our “success” has not always been easy. We’ve definitely faced challenges as far as learning to run the business itself when we’ve never been in this type of industry.
You have to wear all the different hats & at times simultaneously. You have to be your own secretary, marketing strategist, content builder, accountant, inventory management, photographer, the list goes on
This was definitely a learning process for both of us. Taking the time to understand and learn each role that comes into play when building our company. We’re both very hardworking and get into the zone, so sometimes it can get overwhelming. We ourselves need to remind each other to slow down and have self care days to just put our phones down and unwind. Also learning to put our foot down in certain situations that will navigate the longevity and success of our business.
We want the world to know that surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who want to continue inspiring and changing lives has been a constant reminder for us to want to keep going.
Networking with amazing small businesses has created more opportunities for each business in our community to keep thriving, which we love to see.
We’ve been so honored to work amongst some amazing creative business owners who cease to amaze us and we hope we can do the same for others!
It’s been a very rewarding experience to see how discipline, hard work and patience has paid off in the success of our company thus far. We also have to keep in mind that in this life, we need to stay as constant learners. We’re always looking for new ways to improve our setups and experience for others. From not only our “picnic table” setups, to our innovative lounge areas, & our amazing additions to our team which include working alongside some very talented Chefs from private brunches and dinners, to fresh quality sushi to create the ultimate experience!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This question was made for us wasn’t it? We naturally already love hosting dates with our friends and family. A huge part of our lives already is being able to indulge in our favorite foods and the beautiful scenery we’ve all gained to love! We are super grateful and privileged to grow up in such a diverse community of cultures, races, and traditions on beaches under Southern California sun.
As a picnic company and foodies at heart, we have so many favorite locations so it’s hard to focus on just one specific place.
We definitely love the Long Beach area near the Queen Mary. The versatility the location offers is the perfect place to bring your friends and family for a good time. From the beautiful views and scenery to the different kinds of niche food, breweries, restaurant and bars.
Since most likely our little ones would be with us, we’d start off by going to the aquarium of the pacific, then rent a tandem bike and ride around shoreline aquatic park. Then we’d stop by one of our favorite boba spots, Loose Leaf and get a sweet treat. Next, we’ll choose a place to eat along Pine Ave. where they have many different types of cuisines to indulge in. Lastly, we’d end the night by stopping by 2nd & PCH where they host free outdoor movies under their grass area where you are able to bring your own blankets. We’d of course make sure to bring one of our lounge teepees and lots of blankets. While waiting for the movie to start, we’d get some ice cream from one of go-to dessert places, Ample Hills Creamery. They serve hand crafted, made in house ice cream with the most unique flavors. We’d spend the rest of the week sight-seeing around Long Beach as there is so much to do and see. We’d make sure to check out a local museum or hit up the Swan Boats at the Rainbow Lagoon right by the Pike. Being in Long Beach, of course we’d stop and have a full beach day at Mother’s Beach.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Above and before all, we’re both sisters and Mother’s to two beautiful girls who have undoubtedly been a driving force in wanting to inspire our growth as a business and a company. This past year has especially been tough for everyone around us. The pandemic in itself shed some light into each of our lives. The ability to be home and spend more time with our little ones has cultivated a true sense of appreciation for a rare opportunity to reflect on our lives and reset. Many of us had to find ways to pivot our source of income, and use of this new found “time”
It’s worth noting that the ability to slow down entails a great deal of privilege. Although so much tragedy has derived from the pandemic, it definitely played a factor to intentionally build a space in life to breathe, reflect, and focus on the most important aspects of life with the people around you who make it all worth it. We’re so grateful to be surrounded by the most genuine, loving support system. We would definitely not be where we’re at today without our daughters, our Mom and Dad, our older sister, our boyfriends, and our family and friends. We especially want to say thank you to each and every one of you who have continued to show support whether it be sharing our page, or mentioning our name and company in a conversation. Thank you to each of our clients who continue to trust our vision in creating a space for you to enjoy the simple pleasures in life that we may have taken for granted.
