We had the good fortune of connecting with Arthur Jensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arthur, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Where the head goes, the body follows. Perception precedes action. Right action follows the right perspective” – Ryan Holiday This is one of my favorite quotes because it reminds me that I’m always in control and that I have the power to choose how I react to every situation in life. Bad things or events can happen, but I can control my response. I really enjoy reading Ryan Holiday’s books about personal and career development because they are filled with great tips about introspection.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say that my brand and art are still evolving, and I’m learning everyday on how to be more efficient. I’m still figuring out what I want my voice to be and how I want to present that voice. I’m constantly learning and absorbing information and deciding what I like and dislike. I mainly love panting in oils, and I love creating landscapes. Nature and culture are big influences on my art. I love getting immersed in an environment and channeling that energy into my art. My art style is inspired by both impressionism and the post-modern era. My favorite artists derive from these movements. I’m most proud of how much I’ve improved! Every time I create something, I learn from it and critique it. I ask myself how I can make a painting better; whether it be improving the composition, changing the color, or how I executed a brush stroke. To really grow as artists, I think experimenting, exploring and being willing to make something bad are key factors.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If me and my best friend were to explore the city of Los Angeles, we would definitely go on a behind the scenes studio tour. Whether it be at Universal, Warner Bros. or Paramount. I love learning about all the work that goes into making a film, and the amount of detail is incredible. Another place I would take my friend would be to the Hollywood Walk of Fame! There’s so many different kinds of people with lots of energy and there’s many sights to see. It’s a great feeling walking down the boulevard. Mediterranean food is my favorite and the best place I’ve been to. is Sidewalk Grill in L.A. They have some of the best food I’ve ever had, and it’s very beautiful there. Visiting various museums, parks, and plazas are other fun things to do. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am very thankful for my family and friends for always supporting, critiquing, and viewing my art. I’m especially grateful for my Mom! She gave me space in our house to turn into an art studio. I’m also grateful for all the art educators and professors that I’ve had and currently have. They’ve really taught me a lot about all kinds of principles related to art.
