We had the good fortune of connecting with Bettina Pittaluga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bettina, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
At every stage of my life, there has always been an affirmation that knew how to resonate with me. I would say that the one that follows me and that has always been verified is: life is short. For me there is no greater motivation every day than to say to yourself that you have to make the most of it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am proud to say that I fight every day so that my work is in perfect harmony with my commitments, my values and my ethics. I have chosen to be in total alignment with who I am and what I want to represent. It is a choice that may seem difficult, especially financially, but if it is the price to pay for things to change, without hesitation this is the path I continue to take.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am French & Uruguayan, and since 10 years half of my other family, as well as two of my brothers, are Colombians. Colombia is like my adopted family, I feel at home there, it’s my home, I need it to recharge my batteries. I would bring all my close friends there without hesitation. We would eat what my little brother’s great-grandmother made us, we would spend our evenings dancing with all the neighbors in the area, and just wandering the streets talking.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The list is way too long !! I think I’ll try to stick to my professional career to be able to write only one page instead of an entire book! Beyond my friends and family who are an unconditional support and the most important part of my life, there have also been people, with no other interest than helping me because my work touched them and they believed in me. There is in one person in particular, a photographer whom I respect enormously, and who finally became like my “mentor”, his name is Vincent Desailly, he always lent me his own photo equipment, always has been there to advise me, as much on the technique, the post-production as my professional choices, just like that, a pure gift of oneself, because he believes in me. It is as beautiful as it is rare. Thank you very much to him.
