We had the good fortune of connecting with Bling Queen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bling, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been a talent manager in Hollywood for twenty plus years. My business was completely shut down during the pandemic. I know that was not a unique situation to be in, but nonetheless, panic set in. How would I pay my rent? How would I pay my daughter’s health insurance, how would we survive? I had just been through a terrible divorce and was starting over as a single mom. I had yet to get back on my feet… and then Covid. After a few months of justified anxiety and bouts of depression I took a long hard look in the mirror. Is this what life is supposed to look like? Struggle and survival all the time? I knew I couldn’t really change the issues we were all facing due to the pandemic… but I could change my mind. I could believe that something better for me was around the corner. I started meditating. I started daily yoga at home. I put a smile on my face. Then one night I took out a notebook and wrote down 5 things that I love and am great at. 1. Tv/Film business
2. Fashion
3. Accessories/bling
4. Comedy
5. Football

I stared at that list for a long time. And I decided to do for myself, what I already do for my clients. So, I put all 5 things together and 3 months later I launched my IG @itsblingqueen. And Now I am officially a Sports Handicapper with my own radio show! You can see more at www.roccoandbling.com & IG @roccoandbling

So, I have been a talent manager for actors for 20 plus years. Although I’m extremely proud of owning my own business, I’m not as successful financially as I hoped I would be. I guess there are different definitions of success. Do I make a million dollars a year? No. Do I have a successful business and clients who count on and depend on me? Yes. Can I go on extravagant vacations? No. Can I support my lifestyle and my daughter with no help from others? Yes. Some of the challenges for me were comparing myself to others… and also the idea in my head of where I thought I would be at this age. I want people to know that although I had a smile on my face and looked like everything was okay. It was not and still is not an easy road. I’ve had emergencies and been alone. I’ve had a terrible divorce. I’ve suffered emotional abuse. And even though I have always worked… at one point many years ago I had several emergencies happen at one and actually experienced homelessness and moved into an apartment by charging everything on a credit card. I also, recent;y was struggling with aging… especially being single and living in Los Angeles.

So inside, I felt there was more to me. More to my story. I needed to find peace within. I needed to find happiness. So, like I stated before… I finally gathered up enough courage and launched a side passion. It’s interesting to have a “successful” business for 20 years.. and then also start something completely new. But that is exactly what I did.
I want everyone to know – especially women – that life doesn’t end at 50. Matter of fact it just starts. I no longer obsess or care about the things that once bothered me. If you don’t like me… your loss. If you don’t want to spend time with me… good riddance. There is something about being 50. There is a beauty in it. If you truly learn from the past and stop making the same mistakes. I was able to let go of the pain. To let go of toxic relationships. To truly understand what is important in life. I started living a life of joy and gratitude. I started manifesting my dreams. I’m at the onset of my new business, only a year in, but one of my big dreams already came true. I’m fifty and fabulous. I don’t think that I found happiness because my dream came true. Rather, I think my dream came true because I found true inner peace and happiness. If I can do it… You can too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, I am such a LA WOMAN. Some of my favorites restaurants are Craigs, Catch, Gracias Madres, Cecconi’s, We definitely would be hitting those for dinner and/or brunches. Along with The Ivy (if I was taking someone who had never been there). I am also a member at The Soho House – which is the perfect place to have a glass of wine while watching the sunset over all of Los Angeles. We for sure would also check out Beverly HIlls and hit Avra, Wallys and the best Italian restaurant around – Il Pastaio.

However, health is my passion… so after drinking too much wine, I would make sure we would indulge in some healthy activities. We would go to NExt Health and Remedy Place and get some super immunity and anti aging IV Therapies and Cryo Therapy. Also, we would stop by Sweat Theory and Pause studios and take an infrared Sauna, cold plunge and float therapy. Shape House is also the best place for an Infrared sweat. Here you lay in your own pods in a private section while you stream any show you want! That is seriously a Netflix and Sweat session.

I would definitely take them hiking up Runyon Canyon where you can see the Hollywood sign and have great views of all of LA. And of course an amazing yoga class at Hot8 in Beverly Hills.

And lastly, visiting LA wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Malibu and having lunch at the famous Nobu.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing assistant Taryn Kelly who taught me all about social media, put my photoshoots together, and pretty much did everything from A to Z to help me get where I am today.
