We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlo Ponti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlo, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We value and prioritize music education as a tool to enrich and inspire the lives of young people and use the orchestra as a tool to give young musicians the experience to perform and work with professional musicians of the highest caliber.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an orchestra conductor and musician, I have always prioritized contributing to the development of young musical talent throughout my career. I think an artist’s purpose and calling has to involve giving back to the community and to future generations through education and mentorship.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Walt Disney Concert Hall as it is the artistic hub of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and a vibrant cultural center offering a myriad of activities and performances. A favorite venue of mine is also the beautiful and intimate Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, where the Los Angeles Virtuosi Orchestra has been in residence for several past seasons.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our musicians, administrative team, audience and supporters are the reason we can continue changing the lives of young people through the benefits of music education!
