We had the good fortune of connecting with Cris Saur and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cris, what matters most to you?
Living in harmony with all living things are the most important thing for me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an artist and filmmaker who’s passionated about exploring healing modalities that allow us to reconnect with ourselves and the rest of the world. My career started as a fashion model where I had the incredible opportunity to work with some of the most creative and talented people around the world. The fashion experience somehow initiated me on the filmmaker career I chose later on.
Making films allow me to give voice to other people and shed light on issues and challenges that we all face.
Quest for Beauty is my last film where I explore beauty in a more meaningful way, as a way of healing and transcending.
The experience of making this film opened up my eyes and mind in ways I never thought possible. While working in fashion, my ideas of beauty were very limited, but when I started making Quest for Beauty, slowly a new world started to open up. It was incredible! and I’m forever grateful for each one of the interviewees that were part of this big transformation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love going on hikes and being in nature. California is really a blessed place, where we can find the yin energy from the ocean and the yang energy from the mountains. When I have people over, I love taking them on hikes around the Topanga Canyon area, then a picnic at Point Dume, and stay there to watch the sunset. It’s one of my favorite places around here.
Big Bear is another charming place to visit, both in the summer and winter.
I also love driving up to Santa Barbara and visiting the vineyards, going on a wine degustation and walking around the Montecito area, they have some of the best restaurants in town.
There’s a little hidden beach down in Palos Verdes called Terranea, it’s super charming! They have restaurants down a trail with a breathtaking view of the ocean.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to Mother Earth who guided me through my transformational journey into loving myself.
