Meet Debs Nieves | Owner at In-House Brand Lab

We had the good fortune of connecting with Debs Nieves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Debs, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At In-House Brand Lab, our impact goes beyond marketing. We help small businesses, startups, family-owned companies, restaurants, service providers, and entrepreneurs build sustainable growth by increasing their visibility, strengthening their reputation, and helping them connect with the communities they serve.
When local businesses succeed, they create jobs, support families, contribute to local economies, and help strengthen the communities around them. Through our work in digital marketing, SEO, branding, online reputation management, and business development, we help businesses compete in an increasingly digital world and give them the tools they need to grow long-term rather than relying on short-term solutions.
Beyond client services, we actively use our platform, network, and marketing expertise to support communities during times of need. One example was during the Altadena wildfire disaster. We leveraged our marketing knowledge, business relationships, social media reach, and organizational capabilities to build a community-driven outreach platform that connected local businesses, volunteers, donors, and residents affected by the fires. By coordinating efforts across our network and encouraging our clients to participate, we helped organize direct community assistance initiatives that positively impacted more than 1,000 families. Rather than simply raising awareness, we focused on creating action, mobilizing resources, sharing critical information, and bringing people together to support those who needed help most.
Community involvement has always been a core value of our organization. For more than a decade, we have participated in disaster relief efforts, charitable initiatives, local events, and programs designed to strengthen the communities we serve. We believe businesses have a responsibility to use their resources, influence, and expertise to create positive change.
Our mission is simple: help businesses grow, create opportunities, strengthen local economies, and use our platform to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Success is not measured solely by revenue or growth, it is measured by the positive impact we leave on the communities around us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve spent more than a decade building a career in digital marketing, branding, business development, and entrepreneurship. What started as a passion for helping businesses tell their stories and connect with people has evolved into In-House Brand Lab, a consultancy dedicated to helping businesses grow through branding, SEO, online reputation management, content creation, web development, business strategy, and digital marketing.
What sets me apart is my belief that business growth is never the result of one thing. Everything is an ecosystem. A business is not just a logo, a website, or a social media page. It’s the relationships you build, the customer experience you create, the reputation you earn, the systems you implement, the consistency of your work, and your ability to adapt to a constantly changing world. Every part affects the other.
The same applies to marketing. A great social media post means very little if the customer experience is poor. Great SEO won’t save a business that doesn’t deliver on its promises. Likewise, exceptional service can struggle to grow if nobody knows the business exists. Real success happens when all the moving parts work together as a complete ecosystem.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout my career is that knowledge is important, but staying ahead of change is even more important. The digital landscape evolves constantly. Consumer behavior changes. Search engines change. Social media platforms change. Artificial intelligence is changing the way businesses operate. Technology moves fast, and businesses that fail to adapt often get left behind. Part of my job is not only helping clients solve today’s challenges but helping them prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities. Staying ahead of trends, understanding emerging technologies, and continuously learning allows me to help businesses remain competitive in an increasingly digital world.
The journey certainly wasn’t easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced setbacks, financial challenges, difficult decisions, and moments where I questioned whether I was on the right path. Building a business requires resilience, adaptability, and the willingness to continue moving forward even when success isn’t guaranteed. Every challenge became an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow stronger.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is using my skills beyond business growth. During the Altadena wildfire crisis, I leveraged my marketing knowledge, professional network, platform, and organizational abilities to help coordinate a large-scale community outreach effort. By bringing together local businesses, volunteers, clients, and community members, we created a structured initiative that positively impacted more than 1,000 families affected by the disaster. It reinforced something I’ve always believed: marketing isn’t just about selling products or services, it’s about connecting people, mobilizing communities, and creating meaningful impact.
I am also incredibly proud of the long-term relationships I’ve built throughout my career. Many of my clients have trusted me with their businesses for years, some for over a decade. That trust means more to me than any award because it reflects the genuine partnerships we’ve built together. I’ve learned that business is ultimately about people. Technology, strategies, and platforms will continue to evolve, but trust, integrity, communication, and relationships will always remain at the center of success.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is that I genuinely care about helping businesses and communities thrive. My goal has never been to become the largest agency or chase recognition. My goal is to create lasting impact, help businesses grow responsibly, strengthen communities, and provide real value through knowledge, innovation, and meaningful relationships. At the end of the day, success isn’t measured solely by revenue or accomplishments. It’s measured by the lives you touch, the businesses you help build, and the positive impact you leave behind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d want to give them a mix of everything that makes Santa Clarita special, great food, local entertainment, outdoor adventure, and the strong sense of community that makes this area feel like home.
One of our first stops would definitely be Maginns Irish Pub. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s one of those places where you can sit down for a meal and end up staying for hours because of the people and energy. It’s a great representation of the local community.
For a fun night out, I’d take them to Eighth & Rail for karaoke, live entertainment, and a great night out. Another must-visit would be The Break Room SCV, where we could enjoy pool, darts, sports, drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s one of the best places in town to simply have fun with friends.
For outdoor activities, I’d take them hiking through Placerita Canyon State Park. The trails, wildlife, and scenery offer a perfect escape and showcase the natural beauty that many people don’t realize exists right here in Santa Clarita.
If they were visiting during the summer, we would absolutely spend a day at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles. It’s a great way to cool off and enjoy one of the area’s most popular attractions.
We would also spend plenty of time exploring Old Town Newhall, walking through local shops, supporting small businesses, attending community events, and enjoying the unique charm that makes the area so special.
One thing I love about living in Santa Clarita is that it’s also the perfect home base for adventure. Within a few hours, you can completely change your scenery. A weekend getaway to Lake Tahoe offers incredible mountain views, crystal-clear water, hiking, boating, and skiing. If you’re looking for a quick escape, Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake provide beautiful mountain towns, fresh air, outdoor recreation, and a chance to slow down and recharge.
For those who love road trips, I’m always a fan of heading farther out to explore some of the incredible parks and landscapes throughout Utah and Wyoming. There’s something inspiring about visiting places like Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, or Yellowstone National Park and being reminded of just how much natural beauty exists beyond our everyday routines.
What I enjoy most about Santa Clarita is that it offers the best of both worlds. You can spend the morning hiking, the afternoon supporting local businesses, the evening enjoying live entertainment, and still have access to some of the most beautiful destinations in the western United States just a road trip away. That’s a big part of why I’m proud to call this area home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, success has never been a solo journey. While building my business and navigating the many challenges that come with entrepreneurship, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible people around me who have helped shape the person and professional I am today. There have been mentors who shared knowledge, friends who offered encouragement during difficult moments, clients who trusted me with their businesses, and community members who believed in me long before I had anything to prove.
One person who deserves special recognition is my mentor, Shimmy McHugh, owner of Club Brava in Puerto Rico. He believed in me long before I could fully see my own potential. In many ways, he saw greatness in me before I believed it existed myself. Throughout the years, he consistently challenged me by placing me in professional situations that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. He would assign me projects, responsibilities, and opportunities that, looking back, were far more difficult than I realized at the time. The interesting part is that I often didn’t know how challenging those tasks truly were, I simply approached them with everything I had because he believed I could accomplish them. His confidence in me became confidence in myself.
What made his mentorship so impactful wasn’t just the opportunities he provided, but the way he encouraged growth through trust and accountability. He taught me that sometimes the greatest gift a mentor can give is believing in someone before they are fully capable of believing in themselves. Many of the skills, confidence, leadership qualities, and problem-solving abilities that I rely on today were developed because he continually challenged me to rise to the occasion.
I would also like to recognize the many small business owners, entrepreneurs, organizations, and clients I have had the privilege of working with throughout my career. Their resilience, passion, and willingness to pursue their dreams have inspired me every step of the way. They have taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, leadership, service, and community.
Most importantly, I believe success is built through relationships. Every opportunity, milestone, and achievement in my life can be traced back to someone who offered guidance, support, trust, or encouragement when it mattered most. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has played a role in my journey, especially those who saw potential in me before I could see it myself. Their belief helped shape not only my career, but the person I continue striving to become each day.
