We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Vanzini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland and moved to the US more than 20 years ago. From early on I was creating art constantly. My parents owned a clothing company and I was constantly exposed to fabrics and colors. Seeing my dad designing clothing and creating color studies inspired me early on to create multi media fabric collages. Growing up, we traveled a lot and I was always very drawn to exploring new cultures and different environments. After moving to the US I wanted to know more about art so I studied at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and took lots of classes in Drawing, Oil Painting, Botanical Drawing and Landscape Painting. Last year I was one of the winners of Artist’s Network’s AcrylicWorks7. Moving to another country made me stronger and I know I can adapt easily and be inspired by any environment. I have a lot of power, drive and inspiration to renew myself.

I have always been fascinated by the texture and hidden details found in nature. I am an avid photographer who takes lots of close up photos of flowers, trees, leaves, the ocean, the sky, etc. I am a very creative person and I have endless ideas to create art.

I am also a Usui/Holy Fire ®III Karuna Reiki® Master. Reiki changed my life in a profound way and it has nurtured my creativity in a new way. After adding Crystal Healing to my Reiki practice, I started creating Crystal Grids and Crystal bracelets. I opened an Etsy Shop with my daughter, who is also a Reiki practitioner and Crystal Healer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very creative and work in different mediums. I create Acrylic and Mixed Media Collages. Each painting consists of about 15 layers of Acrylic paint, printed photos and different gels on a canvas. The paintings are all inspired by my connection to nature. I also paint realistic flowers in oil on canvas- I am currently working on a new series and I am excited to show the world the final product very soon!

As a Reiki Master and Crystal Healer I also create different Crystal Grids (which are Reiki charged Crystals on Acrylic and Mixed Media painted wood panel) and Crystal Bracelets. I sell some of the Crystal Grids and Crystal bracelets on Etsy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is such an amazingly diverse and entertaining city. It’s impossible to truly experience LA in such a short time, but there’s some highlights that I think everyone should see.

I would show them Santa Monica and then drive along PCH to Malibu. As a nature lover I visit the Huntington Botanical Garden in San Marino frequently and it’s a must see despite the drive. You also can’t go wrong with a hike in Runyon Canyon or Malibu Canyon. For dining – the options are endless but my favorites are Zinque, A.O.C. and Koi in West Hollywood. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am really grateful I found Jules Davis from Auralux ( Reiki and Crystal Healing in LA) Jules taught me all levels of Reiki and Crystal Healing. She is such an amazing teacher. Reiki changed my life and opened up a whole new world to me. Jules is very knowledgeable and insightful and I’ve learned so much from her. I admire her strength to push you and give you the confidence you need to go even further.
